Err. Guys I don’t know how much he gets paid but I really think he’s blow our pay structure. And you know what? I doubt it would work out. I remember an interview of AWB in his breakout season and it was clear to me he was off as soon as a good bid came. Good luck to him but I am loving Ward’s rejuvenation

he's on £80k a week so we could definitely afford him.

I think there was solid logic in him signing for Man U. His defensive qualities were excellent so they could build on his attacking side, especially as he used to be a winger. Unfortunately it appears he was a limited winger as this side of his game hasn't really improved. I rarely see him doing an overlap run and whipping over a 1st time cross.

Now his confidence appears to be shot and he looks a little lost. Such a shame as there is clearly a good player in there.

I think AWB , is being hung out to dry, in every, and which way..The attitude seems to be he does everything down their right side all on his own.
They have constantly pushed him well up the pitch, so far he is rarely in a full back position. This can only be sustainable for him or the team, if he is fully covered ,not just by his fellow defenders, but his mid fielders. None of this is happening in that side, He is all to often drawn into situations that should have been dealt with by team mates. He is being criticised for not closing down certain situations quick enough, From what I see that was as much to do with the fact he was not the player that should have been closing that situation. The second City goal, if that had been us he would have stuck ,Ayew, would have closed,
They are all over the place. And certain factions need a scapegoat. What pisses me is the ex pros. Funny how when things get like this , they go for the player with the perceived lack of pedigree.

Maguire must be the most overrated defender in Europe.

Well he never did very well in a Leicester shirt against us.

There was a damning article about AWB's current form in the Sunday Times yesterday, although it also questioned what the coaches at Moan U are playing at.

sheesh, he's a 23yr old young defender - at the beginning of his 3rd Season of PL football.
Man City targeted him, and he received no backup/help from his teammates (or Captain).
ManU's handling Of him has been shocking. Widely regarded as their best defender last year, perhaps he's a victom of his own success this year? he's been hang out to dry by his teammates and Manager. Taking the example of closing down/pressing, he's not the only one guilty of this. The whole team aren't closing down quick enough. that's on Ole.

Man U don't play as a team. AWB will be fine there once they sort out the manager.

Whilst still quite young he is in his 5th year of prem football, not 3rd, and he has played over 150 top class games.

He is not inexperienced anymore.

Playing him as a wing back was crazy, Luke Shaw maybe, but not AWB.

For both of the goals at the weekend they overloaded the left, and whoever was playing right CB didn't offer any support.

His body language isn't great, but that's kinda just the way he holds himself. Anyone would look bad in that team at the min. It looks like they are playing to get Ole sacked.

I'm no Willo, but Wiki states that he made his Professional debut for us in Feb 2018.

2017/2018 (7 apps)
2018/2019
2019/2020
2020/2021
2021/2022 (11 apps so far)

so yes, he is in his 5th season, but only had 3 full seasons of PL football.
Inexperienced, no, but he's still learning his trade and ManU has done a cr*p job at coaching him - on and off the pitch.
That's the main problem here; They expect him to be the finished article. He is not. He is also not the only one of their team who deserves the same level of castigation.
What he is is an easy scapegoat so they don't have to criticise their Manager.

And he gets paid more money in a week than (for example) a head teacher in Manchester gets paid in a year (approx range £51kpa to £86kpa; average £66k).

Picking AWB, out for slagging , is highly typical for Utd , whether that be fan,or ex players. It’s all part of why they don’t get what’s wrong with them.
Not one of their highly over rated stars has been consistent over several years now, they have not been a real team for ages now. Whatever Ollie, is trying to do they are not buying into it. Yet the spotlight drops on AWB. None are prepared to do the basics properly or consistently. AWB s real problem is to be involved in it this early in his career. Even the mighty Ronaldo, is making basic mistakes, as a team they are not.
The pundits , go on about players ,and managers not being Utd. What does that mean ? Utd,s illustrious past. Maybe they should treasure the memories, and then join the modern game ,as Liverpool, Man Cty, and the top sides in Europe have all done.

But if we pay him that, then that leaves less funds for other positions. How many players can we afford to pay that kinda money to? Not that many, I'd say. Given the amount and the way we used to defend - AWB was a godsend. He's a fantastic tackler. But now I think we've moved on - got Fergie to come.
