what a great prediction. Have to say MG looks quite a quiet player and i would have thought Andersen might be a more obvious choice as captain (a bit older, International experience, already captained in the Prem etc). However, PV has seen something in Marc and he has excelled as captain - as has Jimmy Mac, when called upon. I also think MG represents a lot of what Palace stand for - a young, immigrant Londoner and black player. Very strange comment.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

It stands for all of the above in my view. If you want to be pedantic, statistics state 31% of South Londoners are black and other minorities and the same percentage are immigrants so on that basis, you'd expect them to take up a third of our team. However, as a good proportion of the majority white population probably live in leafy suburbs that don't produce many footballers, in reality more than that. In short, a Palace team that has a good proportion of minorities/immigrants would reflect the community we represent though whether that should be a priority is another question. to answer that question, and without sounding like a white middle class Male, our priority should be to sign players with sufficient quality to help us succeed.

Managers in all walks of life tend to lean towards recruiting from the talent pool that they know & trust (which is usually the same talent pool that they have emerged from) Wenger had Arsenal heavily slanted towards French recruitment for years, Nuno up at Wolves had people calling them Portugal reserves, Watford were the trial squad for the Italians (Pozzo family + Udinese) when they had virtually the entire team as overseas based loan players (before the rules changed) for sure there must be plenty of other examples & as you say if it helps us as a club having access to good players that we wouldn't have otherwise had that's surely a good thing. Marc has had a great season, my only concern is someone will come in with a stupidly high bid for him. But when you look at it, you feel this could happen to any of our players atm. When you look at the defence, they didn’t have many off days to finish with +3 or 4 says it all and should have meant that we finished a little higher up the table.

I cant help feeling that if Marc was a couple of inches taller Chelsea wouldn't have sold him - at 6ft tall he is a very good player in his position, imagine if he had been 6ft 3".

Rumours that Tottenham have him on their shortlist along wih the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Josko Gvardiol. If they fail in bids to get Bastoni and Gvardiol then they may make a 60mill bid for Guehi.

Not yo take away from your post, but the thought of Spuds paying £60 million for a palace CB did make me chuckle.

It's an interesting one as would we be happy to sell one of our real successes this year but make a 40mill profit on a player in a year? Interestingly Spuds are feeling they need to up their home grown contingent so his status ups his stock.
