Usual OTT reaction - it was a crap game, but that's about the only conclusion I took from it. Dropping points in the group is really not the big drama we like to make it out to be; France drew with Hungary, Spain have drawn with Sweden and Poland.. we'll make it out of the group which is all that's important. Southgate does need to take the shackles off; how you start two full backs like Shaw and James and then don't let them get forward I will never know. 4 points, from two games, in extreme weather conditions, against the world cup finalist and our biggest rivals. We've never had more than 4 points from our opening two games in the Euro's.

If we go out looking to finish second it sends out a negative mindset. Basically it says that we are scared of facing France/Germany in the 2nd round so when we come to play one of them in the quarter finals, should we get there, then France/Germany will have an advantage over us by knowing that we are mentally scared of them. Lets look to win the group and be brave if we want to win the thing then we have to play the best anyway so its foolish to try and mess around with the result tomorrow.

The early exit and the players bowing in the quarters to get their rest before the vigours of the new season is a thing of the past. Courage has nothing to do with it.

So England have qualified without kicking a ball and the Scots must win today. Perhaps they will regret over celebrating a game they should have won. C'mon Croatia

C'mon Croatia Spicy I think it's Scotland's 'small man' complex over England. They could have won the England game but settled. No settling today, it's score more than they do or hometime.

You know I am having a re-think. Yeah I get national mood and the impetus that comes with a run of good wins. But that is mentally and physically draining for players who, all bar one, play in the most intensive league in the world. Their energy levels need to be spread more thinly than those from other top leagues. Conservation, motivation and points is a hard balance and going all out would upset that balance. However, my Euro wallchart is too fine print and I overlooked one vital factor. Location. Come second and we would possibly play Sweden... in Copenhagen. We would still win in the dullest match in Euro history; but at what cost? Any hope of conserving finite energy gone with the vigours of travel and playing against a full house who do not support you. By contrast, get past the heavyweight opponents in the knockout at Wembley and we progress to the QF and possibly beyond; with the possibility of having played 6 of the 7 games at Wembley if we get to the final. Tricky one this. Glad I can leave this to the huge IT heavy cohort of experts and England HQ to try and steer the right course.

Suddenly Mount and Chilwell need to self isolate. Hopefully it will force Southgate's hand to make positive changes to the line-up. Or will he see 'risk' and continue to play with two holding midfielders? Would love to see him drop one of Rice or Philips (purely tactical, they've both played well) and play an additional forward-minded player to assist the attack. I have a feeling he might just still play both Rice and Philips and give one license to push further forward, which isn't really addressing the current problem.

Grealish will come in as a straight swap for Mount. Trippier will play (hopefully on The right) to take Set peices. or at least, thats what I'm expecting Edited by CrazyBadger (22 Jun 2021 2.08pm)

Agree - perfect game to give Bellingham a go surely? Expect it will be Grealish straight in for Mount and then hopefully one of Rice/Phillips with Bellingham the other side. Maguire rumoured to be in for Mings as well. He’s got to take the shackles off a bit, this is as much or a free hit as you can get
