I think at 30m it would be a very high price but at 20m it would actually seem like a steel. There are a long list of players that have been bought from Championship teams for between 18m-23m in the last 18 months.

Eze- well, we'll see how he does
Maupay- ok, deserved it
Webster
McBurnie- doesn't really feel that great, cost too much
Bellingham- because of age though, very young
Bowen- he is actually very good

I know Championship prices are high. But for that money, a club can get a play roughly Benrahma's age who had been playing just as well in a better level:

Milot Rashica, top Bundesliga talent-16 million (in talks with Villa)

Cristian Pavon (European citizenship too, World Cup participant)- 15 million

Luis Diaz (Colombian from Porto)- 17 million

Bouanga (2nd best Gabonese player after Aubameyang, Top Ligue 1 assiters)- 13 million (Everton bid 10)

Joao Victor (Wolfsburg, a bit older with 2-3 years)- 10 million

not to even mention some of the best prospects in the world like Moussa Barrow of Bologna or Moussa Diaby of Leverkusen, who are less than 30 million, more like around 27, 2-3 years younger than Benrahma and with a lower salary expectancy. Ok,maybe Diaby wouldn't come to a mid-table club, but Barrow certainly would.

I think we are covering ourselves because we know Wilf is going.

Feels exciting. If Palace in the 2020/21 season can be built on strong, organised defence and fast flair up front then I am all for it.

I am also all for us getting a Premier League striker in Batshuayi instead of Maupay, Watkins et al from the Championship; and for getting the flair players from the Championship (Benrahma and Eze) instead of similar from the Premiership (Doucoure and Sarr).

I am not claiming any knowledge, but it just seems that flair players who have had a bit of time in the Championship are well set for the Premier League. Whereas Championship strikers often flatter to deceive.

So it would be great to get Benrahma. Although this is Palace and we will probably end up without Zaha and Benrahma will go somewhere like Villa.

It does look like Benrahma is coming, according to 'rumour' anyway!

There have been quite a few ITK posts from different sources suggesting that Wilf is unlikely to move on? Crossed fingers that's right. If so, what an attack lineup we would have!

I'm not so sure. Cant see tip 6 eating what we want. Also posdible Roy is playing him up front, releasing much of his defensive duties and bringing in good players in the hope he might stay. Think he could really enjoy playing up front for palace this season...

How do you know Barrow definitely would come? Are you his agent? No point in keep producing these lists of foreign players, if we are linked then your opinion could be sort.

£20m is not to high for Benrahma. My son, who has just completed a football scouting course and has his first assignment soon for a lower league club says, Benrahma is well worth the fee but what does he know!

Michael Bridge reporting Palace are meeting with Benrahma’s representatives soon. I believe his agent is Will Salthouse, the same as Andros

I don’t disagree with either of you, just my gut feeling from what is happening and what has happened over the last three transfer windows.

Indeed I hope you are both right because whereas I would’ve gladly seen the back of Wilf last summer, now i don’t think we’ll get anything like what we have long hoped for and expected to get for him in terms of transfer fee and for that reason i wouldn't mind seeing how we get on with him in a team along with Eze, Ferguson, Batshuayi & Benrahma.

20 mill seems excellent value if we can swing it. It’s the right time to be a buying club and I doubt we’d get anything like that value when “normality” returns

Only real question in my mind is if Downes at Ipswich is a higher priority. No doubting that Ben offers us something different to Andros Ayew but there’s less in the middle if we are looking at Macca as someone who needs breathers.

Both ideal but someone more central the priority in my book. Wasn’t that why we were after Gallagher?

Let’s get Downes and Benrahma (plus a quality young Centre Back, as we also need this).

And let Wickham, Meyer & Sakho go.

What I don't get is why we buy them at £20m-£25m, shouldn't we be finding them before they get to that value. I thought that is what Dougie is supposed to be good at?

Bolasie was the last one he bought that went from also ran to star player.

I guess we are hoping that Scott Banks and maybe Downs if we get him will do that for us.

As for Benrahma, I would rather get Sarr if we are spending big.
