Anyone know what’s going on with this deal? It all seems to have gone quiet having reportedly had a medical on Sunday...

I would prefer if Roy wants old heads to get them in by way of loan. I’m thinking of quality players that are ageing but with high salaries and therefore impossible for home club to sell. We should recognise them quite easily as we have a few ourselves. I wouldn’t buy any old heads at all, youngsters only please for purchase and by the same thought process as others have mentioned I would not loan any youngsters and warm them up for other teams. So as much as I would quite like Gallagher it would have to be a purchase for me or don’t bother. Spot on. Our current squad is littered with old heads, so we should be using the loan slots for these and getting younger players on permanent deals. Whilst this player might add value to our current squad it is highly likely that it will be for 1 season only.

The cynical part of me thinks that perhaps they will announce him Friday as a way to encourage people to pay the fiver (which I will btw, I'm not complaining about it)

He is with the under 21s at the minute. Maybe we don’t want him signing with an injury problem. Or maybe there is no rush, and the England people don’t want him distracted, so we can wait, as Chelsea actually want him with us..

According to the BBS, the fourth official twitter account have confirmed Gallagher has joined us on a season long loan. No idea how legit this is, but the account is followed by some respected sports journalists

So if he does well for us, that new contract will drive up any potential transfer fee should we want to buy and they want to sell

He hasn't been tested at premier level and seems to be behind RLC and Billy gilmour in the pecking order of youth products at Chelski, so a loan gives him a chance to develope Any club will attempt to tie younger assets to long contracts. I think he wants to succeed at Chelsea as his family are reportedly blues. It's just the international break and the player they are signing who is on duty too Maybe in a year RLC will get fed up if not playing regularly and want to move, so think it's a win win situation, as they have gone billy big time in the market again.

Isn't that standard Chelsea behaviour? If I recall correctly even Patrick Bamford had to sign a new contract before coming to Palace to set Selhurst Park alight
