Interested to read the post above about cutting corners in building works Think also that a big part of the problem is to do with the lack of accountability of local authorities, and their unwillingness to listen to tenants associations. They continually ignored warnings from Grenfell resident association Most local authorities in London seem to employ a main contractor to do their repairs and upkeep but it dosent take a genius to work out that these companies can moonlight in the area, and even employ subcontractors to do their work. I'd be surprised if people working for these contractors are DBS cleared. It won't be long before another Grenfell happens

South Africa....building fire at least 73 dead. 53 Injured. shocking. RiP. who the feck was supposed to be taking care of the fire safety ? is this different or similar to Grenfell ? did somebody official fail to do their job ? or was it penny-pinching on the part of the residents ? or was it just 'bad luck' ? I wonder if local councils in general and K and C in particular have made any real effort to check if the people living in such blocks are supposed to be there and not in the illegal sub letting culture that seems common. Are fire drill carried out on a regular basis? Important to prevent another disaster, passing blame on the previous one won't achieve much, practical lessons important though.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Yes - they've gone in with SWAT teams with the right to remove and deport.

excuse my pessimism over Inquiries. All the padding about LFB and covert racism has really nothing to do with the cause of the event.

Having worked in all sorts of properties & areas over 40 years now , I have seen flat owners/tenants keep totally unsuitable materials in the properties.

This RAAC concrete scandal is unbelievable. So for decades this material was used and now all of a sudden it's as much use as a rich tea biscuit that's been dunked. So we have had asbestos, fibre glass and now RAAC all approved by the so called experts at the time and now we wouldn't touch with a barge pole. And of course the big one cladding and the tradgey of Grenfell. Is it any wonder people are now suspicious of so called experts in any field.
