Nearly 3 weeks to go before the window closes and there hasn't been a great deal of PL transfer activity.

As examples, Burnley have signed 2, Brighton 2, Everton 2, Southampton 3 but this includes Ings who was on loan untilthe end of the season, W.Ham 3.All more than us of course but time to go.

Yes, trouble is we are starting two quality players down already, AWB and Michy.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Precisely the sentiments expressed by an old creakey I spoke to in the week.He has been a supporter since the 60s,like myself, and is normally infused with positivity but alas he is experiencing great uneasiness about our plight and prospects. He firmly believes we will not be as strong as last season and mentioned the dreaded 'R' word.
I suspect his views are shared by quite a few of our supporters.

Why we persist with Wickham and Sorloth beats me. Benteke? Apparently looking good. If Zaha goes now we will be well short.
Anyone we bring in now won’t be properly ready for Roy for at least 2 months. Maybe get Bats back? Do us a favour Chelsea......again. The 2 Brentford boys? Three weeks to go.

Difficult to know which type of striker suits how Hodgson plays.
The build up is slow and through the midfield with lots of sideways passing and retaining possession.
We don’t hit many crosses or seem to work on set pieces to benefit the strikers.
It could be argued that our current strikers would be better under an Allardyce style manager who aims to provide service to the front players.
Only at the very top level can you find a striker who is involved in the build up,chases down defenders and scores goals.
This is what we need but difficult to find on our budget.

Mitrovic. As a bonus he can score from longer balls and crosses and is a real pain for defenders, like Murray was. He might not be very cultured but he’s many many times better on the deck than Benteke who’s like watching a Crane (the bird, not the construction crane) trying to control and use a football. Thing is, Mitrovic is expensive.

The problem with Batshuayi is he is useless with balls above his ribs when we’re under pressure or the perfect ball isn’t on. May as well punt it out of play with a chance of winniyit back, not that we ever do in our pathetic competing at throw ins. Batshuayi also doesn’t bring players in or be involved in build up play. He receives and turns for goal, from anywhere. He’s expensive as well but probably not available to loan this year.

Mitrovic has just signed a contract to stay at Fulham.

Just need to find and read the clubs transfer policy. It will clearly state that players from clubs especially those from Merseyside who play in red can dictate excessive prices, that we will sign one overpriced donkey each season, one player who will never make the first team and only sign players in the last hour of any window.

So ages yet...

To make his transfer fee higher if someone wants him to be precise.

We need to scout around for these types anyway.

Honestly, how???

Can anyone explain to me how other teams are able to spend tens of millions on players and even despite the AWB sale we are not even close to making any sort of marquee signing or someone to a least boost the team, or replace the player we have just sold for a princely sum?

This isn't a sarcastic post, it's a genuine question. Even Southampton have spent about £40million on strikers already.

Surely it isn't rocket science in that you identify gaps in your team, plan ahead for recruitment and then begin negotiating once the window opens. I don't accept the fact we have no money and we got rid of a load of dead wood last season

Genuinely boggles the mind!!! Or am I supposed to wait til the last day of the transfer window when we spend £100 million on a top class striker, right back, winger and central defender?

How do you know we aren't close?

How do you know what is going on behind the scenes?

Well thank the world for you and your contribution.

I know for a fact we are not close to signing anyone at all.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
