Dom Fifield tweeted that it's true. Thinking about replacements for Wilf is an exercise in hope over expectation. Personally, I could see Bolasie doing well at the club. He has the delivery that Benteke needs. I know that's an unpopular view. I can't stress enough, though, that we must get a right back. Losing Wilf is one thing, but Joel Ward is a goal-a-game guy....and not in a good way. (Much as I love the bloke) Not on his twitter as far as I can see.

I could see Walcott instead of Bolasie working out for us. Yes, a better option. Hasn't been played much as left winger, but I think he could do well even there with his fast dribbling.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha replacement?' by bexleydave Can't believe no-one has mentioned Ryan Sessegnon - he's available unbelievably no-one so far has taken a punt on him..!! Apparently available for £25M - if Everton pay £70M plus McCarthy/Bolasie and Tosun then he's definitely affordable. Only 19 with bags of potential and ability - play anywhere down the left - lots to work with. Then enough left over to get Max Aarons from Norwich and Chalov. Come on Steve get it sorted..!! COYP

I could see Walcott instead of Bolasie working out for us. Sadly Bolassie has lost a lot of pace after his crucial efforts knee ligament injury, so I’d prefer Walcott if he could be part of the deal. But I don’t think that’s gonna happen. So Bolasie would be a bit of a gamble but worth taking. He knows Palace’s style of play and is a good crosser of the ball.

COYP I agree and I do think we need cover on the left,. Personally I think Sessegnon is massively over priced and with one day to go not enough time to negotiate a decent deal,

Why? He ain't going to be first choice for Spuds - he probably would be for us..!! Even if it's £30M - so what if we get £70M for Wilf - we can afford him and offer him more game time than Spuds..!! Matteo - you keep looking at your world of Football Manager, meantime the rest of us will deal in the real world..!! COYP

Éverton/ Gremio [Link] Good shout. Would be a good replacement for Zaha, but I don;t think he'd come, even though the cost would be somewhere at "just" 30 million. Wanted by Arsenal, and even if that cooled off, I see him going to Napoli or AC Milan rather than coming here. But could be worth a shot. Instead of him, I propose Cristain Tello from Betis. A really "Zaha type of player", with a clause of just 12 million euros (11 million pounds). Raised at FC Barcelona, played very well for FC Porto, Fiorentina and Betis.Betis is preocupied that he has such a low clause and someone could take him any minute: [Link] [Link] - goals last season for Betis [Link] - goals at Barcelona [Link] - goals at Fiorentina Edited by mattteo (07 Aug 2019 8.34pm)

I’m sorry but this is nonsense. Would you turn down a 90% pay rise and with a job promotion? People are quick to blame footballers for moving for more money but at the end of the day it is their job and it’s a short career. They are not fans like we are. We’re lucky that Wilf appears to struggle with being away from home so we’ve had him for a longer than we probably should have.
