I keep saying this but we must be careful that we don't set our expectations too high. RH IMO has done a brilliant job with what he has had available. Yes, our home form could be a lot better but he knows this and accepts we need to change things, but not at PL survival expense. RH I'm sure is given the remit every season that survival is success, so all he is doing is his job. Thanks from me!!

Top 8 is meaningless apart from prize money, 8-17 simply survive.

7th might get European football if many other stars align

The past is completely irrelevant. What you describe is a fear of failure.

Just keep slogging out survival is not success and is completely unsustainable.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

How can the top 8 be meaningless? Imagine you are player with a bit of ambition, are you going to settle for fighting against relegation every season? You can say ta ta to any decent prospects coming or staying with that viewpoint.

Agree. What a staggeringly illogical thing to come out with.

No difference between 8th and 17th ffs.

To player finishing 8th - 14th is of little consequence to them. You seem to think they all have an ambition to win something, unless they are stupid, they know the chances are very slim with a team outside the top 3. All they are concerned about is the amount of money they can get, why do you think Benteke and Sakho came? A decent player/prospect will come to any Premier club, knowing if he shines in a team that relegated, he will be picked up by another Premier team by the next season, example being Luca currently.

Correct.

Furthermore, I understand it's incredibly rare indeed for clubs in contract negotiations with transfer targets to expressly stipulate that the stated club targets/thinking are formed strictly in line with a thorough review of the overriding trends of thought of various supporters' online forums. (Should I be misguided, however, I hope I can speak for us all when I say I approve a sales pitch that might project ambition beyond this, wicked though that might be.)

There only one thing worth saying on this subject. Brighton would give their lives to be where Palace are in the table, Palace are probably about tho lose two games on the trot against clubs with huge resources in comparison and can only play within the confines of their own limited resourses. This Palace are doing and it is proving to be adequate.
What now, gamble it all on a style not favoured by Roy with all his knowledge and experience? If he says this is the way Palace need To play to achieve another season in this much dosho league that is enough for me. Next season will be the deciding season with an aging squad and the probable loss of the best two men in the squad. So lets all get together and undermine the management just one last time before Palace drop out of the league. This should do it....well done everyone. I just cannot wait to be watching the likes of Rochdale every week. At least we will have no trouble getting tickets.
Oh what short memories many have. Or perhaps they are so young they have no memories of the bad old days.

Ive been viewing, and occasionally been posting topics on this forum for many years and as I get older I must admit to memory failure at times, but one thing i have noticed is the common theme that has been a regular topic or comment, for many, which is regular criticism of our managers.
This in my memory goes back years to the days of Neil Warnock/Peter Taylor/ Iain Dowie from memory.
Before then I didnt use computers.(Parish is also an object of negativity)
Yes I agree its what forums are for but,you know what,I think Roy has done an excellent job to keep us in the 'First tier' of English football.I have spent most of the years I have supported Palace watching us in the lower divisions.
I do wonder whether many of those who criticise his management are also in the habit of attacking others in authority positions outside of football.
It can be quite addictive!
Just a thought.

I have thought about it, and the facts are we have won only 4 games at home all season and we have been dreadful. However you want to look at it, the criticism is fully justified in my mind. The manger picks the team, he makes the call when subs are used and at home his decision making has been questionable.

On the flip side our away form has been outstanding and the counter attacking style has been our main stay and kept us up for sure.

The answer should in theory be simple. Let the other teams come onto us at home, sit back and hit them on the break as we do away from home. If they fail to join in with that philosophy then you will probably have the most boring nil nil you’ve ever seen although we would still get a point! This is more or less how Leicester won the league however to be fair they had Vardy at his peak.
