'Three MPs quit Tory party to join breakaway group' [Link] Good riddance! Anna Soubry is a particularly execrable human being (even when sober). "The three said Brexit had "redefined the Conservative Party - undoing all the efforts to modernise it" and there had been a "shift to the right"." Erm... The Conservative party has always been on the right – the clue is in the name! The real reason is they have thrown their toys out of the pram because Theresa May is trying (badly) to fulfil the will of the people and deliver Brexit. Much to their disgust as arch remainers. How about that, tory defections too..... Will Javid revoke their citizenship? Anyway looks like a group of quite sensible people. Congratulations on the most stupid comment I've ever read on HOL - and there are many strong contenders. And yes, I know it's s question and not a comment.

The Tories aren't even on the right. Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Feb 2019 1.18pm)

No, Labour are attempting to champion their interests as well as those of migrants who currently live in this country. Raise the minimum wage, increase social security, build hundreds of thousands more homes, stop NHS privatisation and respect the referendum result. What more do you want them to do? I wish politicians cared as much as you think, but to them, it is all about compromises and careers. You will see, more and more MP's from minorities using their background to advance their own position using minority votes while the values and interests of people who can trace their British heritage back to year dot will become unimportant. It's all coming our way in the coming decades. I can see the Labour party becoming a party that relies almost entirely on the ever increasing minority vote while the White working class desert in droves to put their x elsewhere.

It's all becoming increasingly about identity politics and it's all inevitable. In happier news....I'm off for another biscuit. Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Feb 2019 4.06pm)

Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Feb 2019 4.06pm) You are correct, it is all happening there. The likes of Kamala Harris and Corey Booker are ticking the inter-sectional boxes. But they are not going to win the swing industrial belt where the likes of a more moderate like Joe Biden would. So they are making a big mistake. All Trump needs to do is keep his mouth shut and the Dems will dig their own graves with their extreme policies. As for Labour, it makes sense to be anti-Semitic and target the Muslim vote because they vastly outnumber the Jews (it's all numbers game). While pretending to care about traditional white working class voters, many of the metropolitan bubble and northerners will put a X on Labour vote no matter what.

It's OK LAbourites. Red Derek Hatton is back. Should be a good indication of where Labour is heading under JC. Odd that they now embrace communists and yet abandon their lifetime working class supporters in favour of the immigrant vote. I see your point about Hatton and the ground being safe for him to rise again from the dead like Dracula. However, I would be interested to see how you think this abandonment of their working class support is manifest. I don't see that at all. In fact, the traditional left love them to bits. The problem with that party (OK just one problem) is near total disconnect between the executive and grass root support on one hand, and the PLP on the other.
