Well back on topic (Or I will disclose the full details of how when living in York I ended up in Aberdeen after a Palace game...)

Tonight I have been glugging a beer called Crook Log by the lovely Bexley Brewery a complex winter warmer. A very good ale

Nice one, I'll keep an eye out....and pop it back in again when I see it.

I slept through East Croydon and jumped out at Gatwick. Got on a train heading north and woke up some time later at Brighton. It's a well worn path.

Ok it may be Christmas day but it's day 3 on the beers and ales series.....So next on the list is 'Old Speckled Hen'.

From this one I had a stronger more satisfying taste than with yesterday's East Coast. Just the right amount of fizz and the usual malty stuff but there's a tiny hint of toffee in there.....either that or it was the aftertaste of the Christmas desert.

A 7 out of 10.

I seem to remember a train guard at Brighton in the morning confirming the train I just woke up on had gone back and forth to Victoria. It was set to go again so i just stayed on it. I think it was the week later I jumped off a moving train at Purley after a mate failed to wake me up. The guard on the platform went mental.

The Southampton experience was the roughest I felt after one of these. All Saturday I felt like a rough sleeper. I may have played football that afternoon if it was during the football season, knowing the year it happened.

So today marks the start of an nine day series where I rate nine reasonably well known beers and ales.

Today kicks off the first but I'll play it safe and sample probably the most famous and internationally known aforementioned Budweiser......the tastes I got from this were fizzy, malty and hoppy....quite inoffensive.

local to the Wisbech Nest; I suggest Batemans XXXB.
