I feel sorry for people who eat these extra hot dishes as it ruins the palate. My brother in law is one such person and he can't really taste subtle flavours like fish or avocado any more

I haven't been but Karnavar indian restaurant in south Croydon does a champagne brunch every weekend, I can see the bottles being popped as I truddle by for my £30.05 pints of fosters in the skylark further along.

It sounds crazy, but a McDonald’s takeaway is something of a treat in the YT household. Mrs YT and I weren’t particularly vehement about ‘no junk food’ or anything, but our daughters just happened to grow up only very rarely encountering a Maccy D’s. Consequently it’s now the standard treat on a family birthday, however the nearest one is a 30 minute round trip!

My actual fave takeaway is a really good Chinese... but that may have more to do with the years of deprivation since we moved to this neck of the woods.

You just can't beat a good Bhuna from a good Indian. My new Chinese place gets close though

You can’t beat a good Indian. Unless he misses a bit cleaning.

The diawna down sanderstead was always a favourite, blossom house too, also golden palace in opted.

There was one over in selsdon, forget it's name, but this is all a while back...

Living in vancouver there is a huge indian population but they seem a whole different toe than what i was used to in the uk and i asked someone and she explained they and herself are from a different region and family that live out in the uk have told her the same thing. Mentality is different too, anyways - point is, the food is similar, but can't hold a torch tot he uk curry houses if that makes sense.

Now, having been to mumbai, cochin and columbo and the maldives, the foot is unreal.... but, home is home and the a good curry house always hits the spot.

This was once a quality forum....
