Nice mention of Knockaert. I really like his playing style too. Both fast and strong, left footed.

Didn't have a great first season in the PL, I expected a little more, but I think he'll do more next year. Was a bit unlucky at times hitting the post.

Origi
Allen
Fosu Mensah
Amadou

Oh and a goalie of course

I'm assuming RLC is out of reach though I suppose we could get him back on loan.

Origi offers real pace up front and cover out wide too. He'd come at a price but I'd say his best years are ahead of him. It's the sort of purchase that Mike Ashley would approve of!

Allen is class and is ideal as cover for/to rotate with both Mc and Yohan

TFM? Well he hasn't torn up trees I know but he's another who's going to get better. It may even play into our hands that he hasn't featured much. I think United might sell.

Amadou covers both DM and central defence. This one rather depends on how Roy sees Riedewald. I was excited when he signed but just haven't seen anything like enough of him.

If that's too pricy then the option would be to take either TFM or Origi on loan.

Some of the players I have seen mentioned across a few threads are just NOT within our reach. We are not shopping in such markets.

There are players in the Championship or League One which could well make their way to our club. With the odd PL player on a permanent contract or on Loan.

Well let's see what we've done previously, will we?

Remy from Chelsea (loan, unfortunately got injured)
Bumfluff from Chelsea (loan, turned out to be s***)
Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea (loan)
Fosu-Mensah from United (loan)
Benteke from Liverpool
Sakho from Liverpool
Mandanda from Olympique Marseille (turned out to be s***)
Cabaye from Paris St Germain
Milivojevic from Olympiakos
Sanogo from Arsenal (loan, turned out to be s***)

We also nearly had Wilshere on loan but he plumped for Bournemouth after meeting Pardew and deciding that he was a t***. Oh, and we had an Everton player about to sign for us when his agent started making stupid demands and was told to do one. And I almost forgot -

Zaha from Manchester United.

Your contention that we have no business negotiating transfers with the top clubs in England and in Europe is a load of bollocks.

The assumption that such players will automatically set the turf on fire is also wrong.

I never said we had "No business....." etc etc.
I'm just asserting that some of the names being mentioned are "Pie in the sky".

I also mentioned about 'Loan' players and you have highlighted some in your list.Besides then was then and now is now and not all were signed in the same window. My comments relate to the current window.

I'm not aware that our reach has magically reduced over the last couple of years. Why could we sign Benteke from Liverpool one season, Sakho from the same club the following season, and then not be allowed to talk to them about (say) Origi in the third season?

If the player is interested in us, we want the player, and the money adds up, then we can do the deal. It doesn't matter whether it's with Glasgow Celtic or Stalybridge Celtic.

FFS.

With respect I wasn't inferring this at all.Of course we have the ability to sign PL players and the players you have highlighted were signed in different windows.

My comments are relating to the current window whilst also asserting that some of the players mentioned are out of our reach.

So why is this window different from any other?

They are within our reach, many top players are. If the miraculous purchase of loftus happens too then other players will want to join us all the more in future

Broadly agree - I was suggesting Origi!

I do wonder though whether the wage bill will be as significant this time around as the transfer outlay. I wouldn't mind keeping Benteke but 100K in wages is an awful lot to have sitting on your bench. He needs to start really.

Were WBA not in the position that FFP on wages meant that they had very limited scope in the market? Think I read that somewhere and we are now really quite high up in the wages table.

If we were to free that 100K up then that could perhaps cover the wages for 2 PL established players.

As I have already mentioned, some of the PL players listed were not signed in the same window and I don't expect a host of more high profile PL players to be signed this coming window if we hold on to our named players.I'm not advocating that we won't sign PL players, just dampening expectations regarding our overall transfer activity.I could be proved wrong of course if I haven't read the 'Smoke signals' correctly !

I have made my view patently clear and see no need to respond to any further questioning on this matter.

Did Knockaert have a season in the Prem with Leicester or did they ship him out prior to that?

Not for me. Goes missing too often. Plenty of better options.
