Absolutely, so if we just go on the facts to date it would have been highly unlikely he would have contributed with any goals. Roy obviously felt the same. I find the Teflon positivity for Benteke for the season he has had very odd. It’s almost a battle for some against those who are critical of him.

Confusing, are you saying that you find it odd those who are critical of Benteke, If so what do you find odd?

Not sure where the confusion is.. I believe the criticism of Benteke is fully justified. The irrational and continual belief in Benteke is what I find odd.

Didn't say he would. Said no one had a crystal ball. Sorloth was as bad if not worse first half, so why would I expect him to change the game either?

Please don't use the Bournemouth penalty debacle as a further excuse, Benteke had been awful up to that miserable point and excluding the Leicester match hasn't improved. This 'lack of confidence' thing is laughable, this guy is pulling £120k a week and giving sweet FA to the cause of which, by his performances he couldn't give a flying toss about! I sincerely hope he goes to China or indeed anywhere in the Summer.

In just trying to find out why a proven Premier league scorer has totally died up and looks lost. No real pre season for the team, FdB debacle, knee injury all things that may contribute. His performance against Bournemouth had been his best of the season till the penalty thing, so it could be a factor.
I suppose just abusing him works just as well though.
Plus the tired old wages line, give me a break. Take your time travelling to China we won't miss you either.

I'd carry him there on a sedan chair, but need a partner to do so. Up for it?

Its rarely worked all season with Benteke as main man so we have to make changes, at least Sorloth as young player who needs time in Premier league to leanr outsmart defenders but when gets the ball, he wants to score.. what does Benteke want... his confidence is shot.
He (Benteke) is bossing Sorloth in the match rather than let Sorloth make his own decisions but him and Zaha worked much better. Yes keep the same 2nd half Zaha & Sorloth for the next match with benteke his replacement late in 2nd half with something to prove!!.

Sadly I dont think we shall see Wickham as premier leauge player again. Mr Sick Note always had a leg problem before the bad one, he took the penalty at Chelsea and wow did he wince, he came off soon after. His goals at WBA, he winced when he shot hard then next game out injured.

Well unfair to judge Sorloth on 3 games. You could get a better guesstimate from Bentekes 24. Didn’t mean you directly anyway.

Quite right. The lad did great creating something from nothing on the right in the lead up to the goal. Can anyone tell me that Benteke could have done that?

Agreed. He looks the goods.

I am no Benteke apologist, or some crazed optimist, but I really don't know about getting rid of Benteke.

I think that Sorloth has a lot of good about him, and I can see why Roy wanted him, but he does not seem to have the quality that Benteke has demonstrated over the years.

I can also understand why people have lost faith in Benteke, but he is proven to have kept poor sides in the Premiership. There is something horribly wrong with him at the moment, but I just get the feeling that he is still the best option that we have - although perhaps not at the moment.

I also feel that he has been terribly let down. I think that he is a confidence player that needs stability to perform. I also think he needs to be the main man, but not the only man. Our lack of stability this year and our transfer policy that resulted in him being the only striker seems to have weighed heavily on his shoulders.

I think that Roy has got what it takes to bring stability, and to get the best out of Benteke. I have a hunch that a bit of blind faith will pay dividends. He just needs to finish putting out the FdB fire first.

You can offer many reasons, some I might agree with - my problem is that the man simply does not work hard enough.
