Guaita has signed a pre-contract agreement to arrive in the summer - Perhaps he won't come if we are relegated as he will be swapping 'La Liga' for the Championship.I'm really not sure if this is one of the clauses. I imagine that clause will exist. Edited by Willo (07 Feb 2018 7.51pm)

Surely that can't be right. Three keepers and five strikers - that must be a recipe for going bust. Well it is according to some on here It depends on the quality of the strikers and keepers. Palace already have the 11th highest wages in the PL. Quite possibly adding a new striker on £60-100k a week and a keeper on £30-40k a week would indeed be a recipe for going bust, or failing FFP. Burnley's wage bill is 35% lower than ours. It's a gamble as relegation is so costly but it's also possible to pay a striker 100k a week and for him to only score very occasionally. Remember also that Steve Mandanda was reportedly on £70k a week.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Parish may luckily come out of this okay if we sign Nasri and Hennessy doesn't get injured, or if he does, it's not during a match and we can and do loan a decent emergency keeper in.

Yes and no would you invest into a businesses knowing that it could ruining you by over spending, hope to get success by not balancing the books many unhappy people, The other end is by spending you may get success everyone is happy, a very thin line very very thin in football to many clubs need major investment tobe just mid-table, look at newcastle buyers want a relegation clause that is todays football At the end of the day we want success we also still want the club sometimes it harder to get both

He always seems to be everywhere when times are good. After four months and at least two appearances on both Pods, where he painted himself as being like Joan of Arc, persecuted on Twitter and the like, and reitterated the amazing work being done by Dougie behind the scenes, and how they had mistakes and were going to get them right etc, we were left with another shambles of window. He's gambled again on squad fitness, and almost immediately we've been punished, now having one fit keeper, and one first team winger fit and available for selection. We were told that Roy had 40m to spend in January. We've since got some swede in on a 3 month loan (prob no more than 750k fee), a Polish defender for around 1.5m up front and striker from the Danish league for 8m up front. A quarter of what was talked about, and glaring holes left in the squad as a a result. I've noted he's kept an uncharacteristaclly low profile on Twitter. Is he going to show up for another soft soaping interview on a podcast at any point? Bit out of order to not explain himself, given how happy he is to take credit and show up when the good times are rolling. Who told us we have 40m to spend? Was it Parish or a newspaper?

It was reported all over the media, and not refuted by anyone at the club. Google 'palace 40m war chest' and see how many sites reported it. At no point in any subsequent discussions on the window did Parish downplay it, instead he said 'how hard dougie and the club are working at ensuring we address the weakness in the squad' The club has better things to do than refute every cock and bull story put out by the media. I can't believe that you think that 'no word from the club' means it must be true. And as for 'so many sites reporting it', all they're doing is reporting what news feeds are telling them one source is saying. Investigative journalism it ain't.

5th year in the PL Agree. I have a Charlton friend and I am glad we don't have their chairman. He is trying to sell the club but so far the suitors appear to be as bad as he is. Thank god for Parish. Mistakes and all I would rather have him than some of the football club owners like Oyston at Blackpool.

We are 5th largest NET spender. That comes as much from player retention as big spending - probably more. The players we have let go have largely been from the Championship days and Holloway splurge and have raised relatively little in sales. Our attempt to build our squad with some expensive marquee signings is, I would have thought, a positive step. Had we not done that can you imagine the reaction on this site to only buying "bargain basemenent and rejects"? Note comments on the January window...
