Seems to be the consensus among PNE fans posting on our chat pages that we should take the money. Dropped from the squad last night because he was "not in the right frame of mind". I suspect that a very good performance (against a poor Forest) will make it a bit easier for PNE to let him go. AS stated before on here I don't think he is worth the amount quoted - but I thought both Andy Carroll and Danny Welbeck were poor when they came to us on loan so what do I know ??

What was David Beckham like when he came to PNE on 'Loan' ? Going back to Hugill, he offers a physical presence and puts himself about but not in my humble estimation of PL standard.

I saw Beckham make his PNE debut. A skinny 17 year old kid stood on the touchline in front of me......but his ball control was phenomenal just in the warm up. After 4 games our web pages were full of comments along the lines of "bugger building the new stand...sign this kid instead". The guy was brilliant for us as a footballer (admittedly some of the lower league defenders may have contributed to this)....and also brilliant as a person. Hung around and signed autographs and generally did not act the big shot around the place. If THAT Palace fan had not wound up Cantona, Beckham would have stayed with us that season (he was recalled immediately Eric got his ban).....and I think we would have gone up. I won't hold it against you though! Beckham has always spoken well of his time at PNE so you will find very few in the city with a bad word for him. As for Hughill....sounds like he was your second choice anyway.....and from our point of view I don't think we mind who gets him as long as they aren't in our league and have deep enough pockets.
