Utter mince. Wayne’s not the best in the league, but he is the best we have. Our defence is threadbare at the moment, so just stop!!

Hogwash!! You must be happy having your Hennessey thread back, get over it, he's awful sometimes, excellent at others, we need someone with more consistency (hopefully on the excellent side), it's undeniable that a better keeper would benefit us and that is all most people are saying.

Yes, but that is all people have been saying for ages. The four goals today were not down to Hennessey. He will do until we get the right man. I would rather stick with Wayne until we get someone who is going to take us forward than sign anyone else.

It's because it's been true for ages ( and I totally agree with you about today's game). FWIW I also agree with you that WH AND Speroni are ok for now, if we can get a decent striker that can mitigate the goals we let in, but you also have to admit that getting a better keeper is still a priority.

I'm not quite sure how you let in four goals when you're not actually playing. Care to explain? How many top flight games has he played since 2010? He’s also played a fair bit this season.

My gripe about WH is that at 6'5" he must come for crosses, he doesn't . Today in the first half he was sadly awful.

Will you please stop saying I want the Hennessey thread back. I asked the Mods to end it months before they took any action if you must know. Also I have never said I didn't want the club to buy another keeper. It's a sad fact that one of our keepers has been reviled just because he replaced another who was a fans favourite. It will be better all round if both Speroni and Hennessey were replaced it might stop all this blaming the keeper for every goal conceded or loss of the match. For the record my hero was John Jackson but even he had to go sometime and I don't remember any fans turning on his replacement.

I was there today, and while it wasn't Hennessey's best game, he could do little about some of the goals and made some good saves to keep the score down. He tried to come for the first corner but was actually blocked by Luka, and sadly it was Jimmy Mac who lost Monreal at both corners. The only goal Hennessey should really have stopped was the 4th. Having Speroni in goal would have made no difference as he rarely comes off his line. What is annoying is that while Arsenal (and others) whip the ball in from corners making it hard for the keeper to judge the flight and come for the ball, we just float the ball in, making the keeper's job a lot easier. Finally I was shocked at just how much vile abuse the fans around me gave WH after each goal.

We all know that we could do with a better keeper, just as we could improve in so many positions. It's just a shame that yet again we're approaching the latter stages of the transfer window with no signings in any position.
