I'm not familiar with his work, but I'm guessing he must have done something right.

In which case I wholeheartedly disagree with you.

Your reply about who you'd rather have in charge "I'd just google it". That's such a silly comment it's hard to know where to start. So, you just google a chairman and then they turn up, right?! A bit like UberEats, but with multimillionaires.

Maybe let's narrow it down. I'll ask you, who has done a better job as chairman of Crystal Palace than Steve Parish.

Goldberg, Noades, Jordan..... any others you can remember?

The question was "who would you rather have" which is the lazy cop out response to anyone who dares to question if Parish is the right man to lead the club. Before Parish and co turned up they had just as much reason to run the club as the next man. Well, except one glaring omission which is that other that being fans of Palace they werent involved in football whatsoever. Lastly yes how about Arthur Wait??? You throw them up I will knock them out of the park, that was an easy one, universal.

Why you want to run down the person overseeing our most successful period ever is beyond me. Maybe just spend a few moments appreciating where we are now, and where we have been.

No-one is above criticism but SP is doing a good job based on the history of our club.

Maine, I concur with a lot of your criticisms of Parish and it's true that his escape artist managers have dug him and us out of the sh1t. I also agree that the money should've been paid out for either Tosun or Niasse, and looking at it Tosun was more acceptable to Parish going by the cheek of the relatives acting as Niasse's agents.

But the problem is that that was the traditional and conventional summer window and the January window is quite different. You're right the summer was a shambles, as it was the summer before, but it's unlikely it can be corrected until 2 days or 2 hours before the window closes.

By all means moan like a p*** star if on the 1st February we have only Benteke as a forward plus other vulnerabilities.

My issue is that Parish doesnt show me that he can learn from his mistakes, Rudi. This is much bigger than just this transfer window, but he has just shown me once again how, IMHO, he doesnt go about things the right way.

We should have been going hell for leather to bring in at least 1 player by now, and if we have to pay a few million quid over the odds, then you know what, we should have done that.

Sometimes signing a new player is greater than the sum of its parts, meaning the overall shot in the arm it gives the supporters, the players, and the gaffer can be way more significant than that new players' actual performances.

But no - we are still dithering around like normal with transfers.

His lack of evolution and learning is what I find to be the most troubling thing about his tenure. After all of these years how he could quite so spectacularly balls up the FDB manager search is beyond me, it just shouldnt be allowed to happen.

Add that together with the fiasco of not signing a keeper or striker last window, not making an early signing in this window despite what Hogdson calls his worst injury crisis in his career ever; its just too many calamitous mistakes for my liking.

Because he isnt any good as a chairman....next question?

You are just going by the numbers now mate. Next you will say "we wouldnt even have a club without Parish!" I get it, and I dont want to diminish that. Parish, Browett and co got off their backsides and did something about the club being on the brink, instead of just talking about it in pubs, or in their case at wine tastings and dinner parties.

They put their money where their mouth was, and they deserve a massive debt of gratitude for that, forever more.

I just dont think Parish is a very good chairman, and doesnt have the right approach to running the club, especially hiring and firing of staff and players. Those 2 facts can co-exist. He saved our hides, but he is not a good chairman.

I didn't mention them saving the club. You bought that up. What I actually said is, he must be a good chairman as he's overseen the most successful period in our history. We are doing well, he is in charge, therefore he is doing well. You are entitled to a different view, but those are the facts. #rafafacts

These points I agree with and if he wasn't a 17% shareholder he definitely wouldn't be repeated.

Those errors are inexcusable and indeed, as I may have inferred, happened in the summer. We're now in the January window and the factors and variables and shysters change. Right we shouldn't be in that situation but we are so Parish has to correct the wrongs, AGAIN.

Everton have spent close on £70 million on Pickford, Tosun and Walcott and yet they couldn't beat WBA at home.
Just saying.

What successes? The only good hires he has made are well known names, anyone could hire Warnock, Allardyce, Pulis and Hodgson. The one time he tried to do something different he totally fouled it up with FDB. He has the right intentions on the business side of the club, but at the football side he is hopeless. Could you please list his successes, other than staying in the league, which has mostly been despite Parish rather than thanks to him. What other premier league chairman would have allowed us to walk out of the last transfer window with no keeper or strikers signed? We then sacked off a young keeper to make a squad space and didnt bring anyone in. Its amateur hour time and again.

Not sure how long you’ve been supporting Palace for mate. But if it’s 30 years or more, then staying in the premier league for 5 seasons straight is success enough for the most of us.

Agreed, I am just happy we still have a club anything else is a bonus but then I am a bit long in the tooth.

But Everton should and will finish mid table up to 7th whereas West Brom won't.
