The good news is that if we stay up I’d be pretty confident of securing Amadou and Guita in the summer. I'd like to think so too. And as for those who say we constantly screw up every transfer window. This from another post is our previous three windows dealings. 17/18 Summer (FDB) - Fosuh-Mensah, Loftus Cheek, Reidewald, Sako Pretty darn good if you ask me...

If you think it's so s*** support a different team. Here we go again... So as Parish et al saved the club they are thus immune from any criticism? These are also the people who have made a tidy profit out of the club whilst investing huge sums in managers like Frank de Boer and players like Jordon Mutch. They are not Gods they are men and this iswhat? 2nd, 3rd, 4th window in a row where either glaring inadequacies in the squad have not been addressed or we have left it too late to complete deals. At a time when the bottom half of the Premiership is as tight as it has ever been and with a squad where its inadequacies are glaringly obvious we fail to strengthen yet again. One day soon this will bite us on the bum big time

Obviously it's not good that we haven't been able to strengthen the two positions we really need to. But I'm pleased that over the last few windows we've in large stopped buying duds. Hopefully we'll look back on this window in the same light.

Oh you mean the “Black Box”. They oddly made the choice the wrong choice of managers for them and ourselves. I said then they'd be better off with Frank and us Pellegrino. I thought the mistake would relegate us but not them. It looks like it would've relegated us and probably them. I don't know why they've not strengthened because it's blatantly obvious they can afford to and they've been linked with good players. Maybe because they're going to cut the manager.

Not sure I share your optimism. Now he has been put in the shop window watch other PL teams make a move eg Everton. I don't think so but if you are right SP would actually have to pay for them.

I have no doubt as to the wealth of the 4 gents who took over the club and admire your faith that they have acted in an entirely philanthropic manner throughout. Equally I am grateful that we still have a club. But to suggest they have not now got far more out of the business than they originally invested is not bourne out by the publically available data on the club via accounts etc. nor with the figures bandied about in the press as the 4 men who love the club so much sold a chunk of it to corporate American investors. And the fact that we spent so much last winter? We needed to as we were in serious risk of relegation.Even then it was all a bit last minute. But as you say I probsbly don't know as much about these complex things as you or others

There I was thinking we had a chance of finally securing some of our intended targets yesterday. Only to wake up this morning to find that once again we struggled to get 1 more over the line. I don't think anyone is to blame (especially Parish) it's just that selling clubs are greedy, buying clubs want bargains and the January market is always overvalued!

I disagree as the buck must stop with someone and as Parish appears to want hands on control of everything it must surely rest with him. It seems that Amadou was told by Lille a few days ago that he would not be sold so he acted independently to try and force through a sale but failed so I don't think that you can blame Parish for that but the buck must stop at his door for the failure to sign a goalkeeper. As you say "The work involved must be horrendous and very frustrating" but isn't that why an experienced businessman like Parish is paid £680,000 a year as if life were simpler one could lop a nought off the end of his salary

No it is not 'his' money it is money belonging to the various companies and partnerships that own the club. He has a paid role as CEO (or whatever title he uses.)

Steve Parish is a minority shareholder and the board of directors (of which he is one) will decide his remuneration). He is paid a substantial salary to manage the club on behalf of the shareholders
