I think the issue is they're allowed to deceive us, they're allowed to lie to the other party - they just can' lie to other MPs - apparently that's a step to far

Found this below though.

Thanks Martin for clarifying that. Actually this sounds even worse. The police had no warrant to seize his computer. They were were given permission but not by Damien Green. I am not sure my neigbour would be happy if I gave police permission to search their home.

On LBC this morning further coverage as to how the police officer came to disclose. I think this is set to run and run with claim and counter claim.

Probably not, but this isn't about then, it's about now.

Surely the obvious point to take from this fiasco is that both parties are as bad as each other and whilst it's the Tories who are currently in power if and when Labour ever gets back into power they will surely come up against the same problems with personnel

Maybe, but shouldn't detract from May's deputy breaking ministerial code.

I think it's like the hate speech discussion before. It's a gradual creep from both left and right to making almost everything some kind of crime. That way eventually as soon as you pop out of the birth canal you're bound to be guilty of something or other so had better watch it! With such a system in place it can be selectively applied and so it suits whatever government of the day or social outrage or token gesture is important at the time.

I must admit I do feel a bit bad for this fellow if it wasn't even him. He may well have not really been aware of what was going on.

Yep, you know I see a parallel with today's faux moralism and the nonsense the religious right push.

A politician lies to parliament......shock horror! Happens everyday.
A politician has p*** on his work computer......now, this is worthy of rebuke for sure...totally unprofessional but we all know that because this is in the public eye the reactions to it are all hyped up.

I'd just like a more grown up society around the area of sex.

I don't really think it matters so much what was on his computer, but that he lied to parliament. That's just something you can't get away with.

Really? It's gotta away with everyday. The idea that this is the hill he dies on is nonsense to me.

They lie for a living......The idea that lies aren't spoken in Parliament is childish, so this reaction when one is found out is hyperbolic.

Politician breaks a commandment of the moral order?.....give me a break.

Just make sure that they aren't on the take....Politicians getting jobs and money based upon their positions happens all the time.....now that actually matters.....but no....some prat lies in Parliament....sack him! Phooey.

Only difference is there would have been a sham enquiry had a Labour minister been involved.

I'm not even going to address the 'offence' because he shouldn't have even been in the position to lie about it but that's pretty serious police misconduct.

The relationship between the press, police and parliament is pretty toxic at times.

I agree, but what are your thoughts on Keith Vaz being a shadow cabinet minister who cheated on his wife with two male escorts in a drug addled orgy?

What has that got to do with with the price of fish. Cameron stuck his cock in a pigs head. Got nothing to do with Damien Green. Should it be or should we allow shenanigans to carry on because of past MP misdemeanors?

Cameron wasn't in government.
