Do you have any evidence for this sweeping statement? The fact that the religion keeps getting mentioned is somewhat interesting. They don't tend to do that for Christian child rapists.

That's because Christianity is observed casually or not at all by most people and this is a 'Christian' country. Therefore, it is not a reference that is used for what is the majority of people. There is only a small minority of Muslims, some of whom are responsible for a remarkably disproportionate level of rape and child abuse. Of course their religion is going to be highlighted by the non Muslim majority.

Interestingly, we never make that jump with serial killers (who are almost entirely white). Yeah, there is a problem with Muslim grooming gangs in the UK, I don't think there anything untrue about that - But its not really significant that they're Muslims per se, any more than being Catholic is significant to crimes committed by the Mafia - Organised crime tends to always be along familiar and ethnic lines. But the problem isn't because they're Muslim.

Surely the abuse of Catholic priests on children has been mentioned at sometime, somewhere. Edited by Park Road (15 Dec 2017 3.28pm)

Edited by Park Road (15 Dec 2017 3.28pm) Tellingly, the phrase Catholic is used, denoting a specific section of Christian, but no such term is used for Muslims. Either way, its a moot point, the priority should be to root out and find any one involved in the sexual exploitation or abuse of children (any children).

Not in the US. In the American Mafia, being Sicilian was only a requirement until around the 30s. The US Mafia requirement for made men is only Italian heritage (and even in its heyday of the 20s to the 60s a number of Jewish mobsters were effectively part of the US mafia - Notably Mayer Lanskey). Only in Italy is the Mafia specifically Sicilian - But that's more due to the fact that Italian organised crime tends to be regional (The Camora in Naples, N'Draghata in Calabria, Sacra Corona Unita in Apulia. Outside of Italy these organisations tend to be referred to as the Mafia, and overseas they're certainly less distinct (although a lot of what people call the Mafia are actually N'drangheta)

Much in the same way that there are different 'types' of Muslims.

As you suggested, they are working together because of close association but began in one region, created by one nationality that then spread to other countries via mass migration.

I don't think it's a religious thing. Traveller grooming gangs never picked on traveller children back in the day. More a case of not abusing your own I reckon.
