Didn't Chelsea want Bentenke at one point?

I'm just putting it out there...

Let's face it, he's gone after this year. Chelsea will want 30m+ for him, and we can't afford that (unless we sell Zaha). Enjoy the last 2 games with him at Palace.

BTW, someone said stamina. I actually think this is his weakest trait. He tends to walk quite a lot during the game. Doesn't rush to get back.

My take on RLC . First I don’t think we will get him maybe another year loan which I think would be ideal . Think good player but won’t get much playing time out of him as injury prone .Might be a bit synicle but strange how he just played probably his best game for us when Southgate in stand and World Cup on horizon. Loan all day , Buy No

Saw a report in the paper the other day talking about the players Chelsea will be looking to unload in the summer. It said RLC would definitely not be sold.

Another season on loan is probably the best we can hope for.

He must be good if he can make the England squad

Depends how smart him and his team are. Is the best thing for him to go back to Chelsea and not play and decline like Mchechran (sp?) or any others of Chelsea’s youth products.

At palace he is playing regularly for the first time in his career, he has been called up to England he is playing the best football of his career so far without a shadow of a doubt. He for sure is better off staying for at least one more season, even if it’s another loan and then seeing what happens.

If he gets on with the squad, I’m sure he will be thinking about it and he really has the opportunity to improve further. Roy is probably a very good manager for him at this stage of his career.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before BUT what is the situation with his current contract with that grotty club on the Fulham Road?

This is how I see it as well. He looks like he enjoys playing at Palace so for me another years loan would probably suit all parties.

I would only temper this thought if Chelsea change their manager and whoever comes in is a RLC fan and sees him moving straight into the first team, in which case he obviously won't be coming back.

So we're judging players based on what Southgate thinks?

If his work off the ball improves, he's good enough to be a top star at Chelsea...a main man. It's really a question of whether they want him to develop that side of his game there or some place else. In practice, his actual contribution at Palace this season has been small. But I think we can all see what he could become.

I don't think he works hard enough. He is a luxury player, not sure we can afford to have him in the team. That is unless we play without a striker next year. I appreciate he has a lot of skill but at least for the foreseeable future our team needs to be really hard-working to get results. Last week was a bit unusual as Leicester really didn't seem to put 100% into the game. We do best with three mostly forward-looking players in the team (Zaha, Townsend and A.N.Other), with a fourth we are light in midfield and defensively.
