Like the Hennessey marathon this thread is boring.
It happened, the referee probably erred but he was in charge. May have cost us the points or maybe not.
It is over and history. Let it die.

A much more relevant point to discuss, and perhaps provide sensible solutions to, is our shocking performance in front of goal. It is painful!

I generally try to, but on this occasion got frustrated that every single thread about officiating seems to be overtaken by him.

Anyway, I'll drop the subject. Sorry everyone.

What an unusual word. In fact I have only ever come across it twice. Firstly by yourself on more than one occasion and secondly by Trolley on the BBS.

Anyone would think that you two were the same person

Now try googling "risible and ridiculous allegations" (in quotes).

A "panjandrum" is a contraption rather like a big catherine wheel about a dozen feet across which was festooned with explosives and a fuse. The idea of course was that you propelled it with rockets across a battlefield towards your enemy's fortifications and hoped it would blow them to bits.

Sometimes of course it would refuse to budge or keel over on its side, and blow up in your own ranks.

Well thats proof, if proof were needed that they are in fact the same person....the only person on here to ever have used 'vitriol and vituperation' 'panjandrum' and ' risible'. in any posts!....that concludes the case for the prosecution!

Somehow, perusing the BBS in bygone days and being entertained (And educated) by some terminology by a certain person is misinterpreted as being the originator who somehow decided to switch allegiance to HOL and appear under a different guise instead of using the same name which appears to have garnered some notoriety and levity.Dear me, rather baffling.

That said, I am sure I read a dictum on here by the hierarchy to keep to the subject matter and NOT turn this into a WILLO thread.Maybe I have dreamed this.I am more than happy to oblige but just had to counter the allegation. No more on this matter - I shall only pass comment on the topic under discussion and ignore all the slurs which are designed to discredit myself and at the same time undermines HOL.Maybe others will do the same.

I think that the definition of 'panjandrum' that Willo was thinking of was a person who has or claims to have a great deal of authority or influence. I do see what you mean about "risible and ridiculous allegations"

I think the bit abput keeling over and blowing up your own camp was what he meant!

Yes, originally the Panjandrum was s nosense word coined by Foote (1775) and poularised in The Great Panjandrum Himself (Caldecott, 1885) as a character of that sort. The military version dates from the Second World War but was never used in anger because tests showed it to be s***e.

I've definitely been caught out as a keeper for less obvious backpasses/s*** clearances than that in the old Sunday league days, so when I saw Ben pick it up after what would blatantly be called out in the Tandridge league, I thought another call for the big boys whilst us at Croydon Postal have to deal with the real rules of football

So, Wayne Hennessey is a panjandrum?

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.
