McArthur was to blame for the Chelsea goal. If he had held his position 3 yards off the post he easily clears the goalbound header.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

Sorry, but Speroni's dive came after the ball was in the net. Got to react quicker than that to a header from 12 yards that bounced first.

You say if Wayne had let it in we'd all be calling him out over it. Yet you're the only one calling JS out over the goal.

Goal keepers let goals in. fact.

What everyone else is trying to say is that, the team done good and for that maybe JS along with the others gets another game.

Why do you seem to hate that so much?

It's as if you're not happy about our result as Wayne wasn't playing...

And yet you're the one calling everyone else Wayne haters.

TBF , cpj is quite correct Wayne would have been slaughtered if he conceded that goal, everyone , well the usual suspects, would have questioned his reactions. It may well have not been Speroni's fault but there are reasons to question it based on the standards set for Wayne.

We'll I'd say the same thing if Wayne let the goal in.

Neither are top draw keepers, both have errors in them.

Waynes been in for the last 7. If JS gets a few games then we should all get behind him. Just like we should if Wayne comes back in.

Dissecting every goal that goes in does nothing but make people appear fan boys.

We've got two keepers until at least Jan, neither of which are world beaters, both will make mistakes, and both should have our support when playing.

I find it strange after take the scalp of chelsea people are trying to point score over the goal we conceded.

Just to add my two pence worth.

To me its more than his goalkeeping/shot stopping.
Its about how he conducts himself both on and off the pitch.

Met him several years ago when my kids were young and he couldn't have been more friendly or available with his time.
Seeing him yesterday throwing his jumper into the crowd as well - he has a special bond with the club and fans and that itself gives the place a lift.

What I would also add - seeing the highlights on TV this morning I noticed the amount of shouting and direction he gives to his defenders. I think this often goes unnoticed when at the match but he does not stop organising his defence. I'm sure defenders must feel more confidence with Speroni behind them.

Rubbish. Wayne is a competent Premier League and international goalkeeper who like almost all keepers makes the occasional mistake. Some "fans" have irrationally decided to turn him into the scapegoat for every goal we concede.

His mistakes are more than occasional

Agreed, it definitely was nothing like 12. Also the fact that the ball bounced doesn't help the keeper at all. If you watch replays you'll see the ball bounced steeply and also veered slightly to the left - it's very hard for keepers to judge exactly how a header like that is going to bounce (that's what made the Banks / Pele save so special). I don't blame Speroni for the goal and I like to think I wouldn't have blamed Wayne either.

If anyone was at fault it was whoever was supposed to be on the post.

I am a huge, huge fan of Speroni; huge. Equally I support Wayne. Wayne has not been 'great' lately. I thought Jules did OK on Saturday. Not brilliant.

On balance imo Jules should edge out Wayne (would be cast iron if he didn't do so many slid floaty, too high kicks). It may do Wayne good. In fact two keepers battling it out will be good for CPFC.
