Nonsense. He owned 25% of the company and was in it for the capital appreciation of his shareholding and not a monthly income. Parish is already a multi millionaire, doesn't need the money and the lack of a salary increases the value of his equity stake so it makes economic sense to keep the money within the company whilst it was making losses rather than pay a huge chunk of it to the taxman So Midlands it's in SP's interest not to take a salary, is it? firstly the last 2 millionaires who bought Palace didn't fair too well so to assume SP bought Palace purely to make a profit is a little unfair. If we had gone down in the first season (2010/11), which was a strong possibility he would probably still be funding the club today. He also had a 25% equity stake so by not taking a salary he was benefitting the out shareholders more than himself - a strange logic. In our 1st 2 seasons in the prem we made healthy profits (£17m in 2013/14) so surely he would have started paying a salary to himself then using your argument. Finally the club pay tax regardless - whether it's NI on wages or corporation tax on profit - HMRC gets their money every which way. Clearly SP has made money on his Palace investment, but it was a high risk investment and he bought at a time when no one else wanted to buy the club. For all his faults to accuse SP of money grabbing is OTT. I remember the Noades era, the 1st ever paid chairman, the club paying his kids school fees etc. If SP stepped down we would get a paid employee on a much higher salary with no connection with the club i.e. a Woodward at Man U. Be careful what you wish for!!

Be careful what you wish for!! Well let me try. It is common practice for business owners in the business infancy to not pay themselves a wage. It's poor short term thinking to pay yourself if its unneeded. Parish was late by a season in paying himself after making a profit. Maybe he thought we weren't going to survive, or had serious doubts. The time it took to sign Pulis leads me there. Our £5 mil losses were to be covered by selling players, and were. It wasn't planned or forecasted to come out of their pockets for anything other than the short term until say Jonny Williams was sold, for the big fee he probably would've done performing well at that level. I'm not sure Parish has been accused of personal 'money grabbing' by anyone. All he's done is paid himself for his hours that would many CEO's. As it's now US partners rather than people closer to him, why not? He protected the club's vulnerable financial position of £5 mil losses with planned player sales and not adding to that with a £650k salary. Further, its later on he took more on alone and instead of paying a quarter of £650k to 4 multi millionaires it made sense to pay Parish the going rate when he was doing most and just conferring on certain matters. The 'being careful what you wish for' depends on who it is. If you're saying the only suitable person on the planet is Steve Parish then you're right. He must run the club until he's 90. When you have a business in the championship possibly making a loss, unless you manage to sell players to the value of £5mil per season, why would you add more to that 'loss' by drawing a salary? You're effectively hamstringing yourself. I can see why in the end Parish ended up paying himself after getting through those losing years unless £5 mil of players were sold. I'm quite a critic of his, as you know. If he sold Palace in 10 years time and either 2010 or now the yanks made a load out of their investment and his 'full time' chairman role, how would he or anyone feel they'd shared millions from his uncharged hours when they were being paid for similar elsewhere. This doesn't mean I don't think he's been out of his depth football decision wise in the last 2 years as well as whenever there isn't an absolutely top class manager telling him how it needs to be or they're off.

Parish went on Holradio and answered questions for over an hour. There is no need for a statement. How many other clubs chairmen or owners would do that?
