A fair point. And all we purchased, prior to Sakho was an £8 Mill fringe player from Ajax and 2 'Loanees' who are inexperienced in the PL. Furthermore we dont have any backup for Benteke and if Hennessy gets injured we only have a 37 year old Speroni who hasn't played much competitive football in recent times.Add to the mix, in the important 'Engine room' of midfield, a struggling Puncheon who hasn't delivered for ages and Cabaye who has been in and out due to injury and hasn't had the impact expected of him. Overall, cause for concern ! Edited by Willo (08 Sep 2017 9.46am)

Hi, I am sorry I don't agree, given that you think a team that was less equipped than the ones that only managed 1 win in the last 4 games at the end of the last season even with Sakho. Should have got a result against teams that had just spent in excess of 50 million each. With our home record. Why was there no interest from any championship or lower divisions in any of in your view our defense line-up that should have stood against what you describe as relegation hopefuls? Of course, I guess in your view, it was FDB's bad strategy at fault since you seem to disagree with any real clarity. I personally think you seem to be happier with your view than facts.
Do you ever provide any on pitch evidence to your blind loyalty to a man who might turn out to be complete cr&p and hasn't given us any great confidence yet that things will work out okay? You just ignore the pre season games and the first match shambles, plus the arrogance again in the approach to Swansea. The jury is out. Hopefully he'll do it but you want to give him your house, wife and car and then ask him he's comfortable and would like a tea and a nice sandwich.

I think poor old Steve P will have some sort of breakdown and be found in his office the day after the new deadline with a list of transfer targets on the desk, staring into space, rocking backwards and forwards, and muttering "31st August, it was always 31st August"

Oooops sorry, yes I forgot Sahko got injured at the end. I realised after I hit the post button, darn. Regarding the bit, I have bolded. It must have been clear to FDB he was working with a very weak middle and back lineup that was compensated by a very strong forward line up, so yes it was touch and go last season. However, there is plenty to suggest that Frank was trying out players in different formations, knowing he won't have a lot to spend and went and got what he could for free plus 8 mils to top up the center, and openly stated he wanted a defender, a goalie and a forward. Actually given the size of the squad he had very little time to teach and get to know all the weaknesses. Ended up I guess in frustration looking at the development squad for answers, who ERONOUSLY he put faith in to perform with confidence. Again unlike many on this board, I am admitting that this is speculation. Although Gary Neville's summation after the Swans game in MOTD suggested that is exactly what he was doing. To disregard the injuries to Zaha Loftus-Cheek and Reidewald with such a thin squad, therefore should not have affected the strategy or re positioning of players is naive which I know you are not, but I guess that's your view. Since I have not seen you allude to those facts with any vigor. To not bear in mind that Townsend turned up late after the teams had already been submitted to the refs and therefore had to be benched, and the resulting re formation of players is apparently also FDB's fault, therefore, is something that doesn't warrant any defending is typical of the Frank Out sentiment. We all watched the same games, the truth of what really happend that contributed to the lost games, in my view lies closer to the summation of all the views expressed minus the bad journalists and the gun ho attitude of the 'Direct Football' brigade.

You talk about people being naive towards Frank. Just how would you describe his summer, definitely the Huddersfield game and the approach to the Swansea game? Frank needed half a team minimum to play 3-4-3 and that's on top striker, keeper etc etc etc. It was a ridiculous idea that was supposed to be a plan b, not plan a and forget all about the other plan. The mistakes happened because of the players and other players' positioning, therefore the formation that the players are not suited to and are out of position in. Ward all over the place, PVA too high up, confusion with marking and tracking over crosses from his or both wings.

Interested to see whether he plays a back 3 or back 4 against Burnley. They would have conducted an in-depth tactical analysis of how Burnley play and at the end of the day FDB will decide which formation to play in the best interests of the team.Doubt if he will be swayed by those urging him to play differently.
