No need for the cynicism mate, different opinions maybe but to buy 2 very similar players for that amount of money did imo not make sense.

There was never 2 of them available at the same time until hull and man Utd. What would we have done? Played Kelly there? Played ward there? Who would've played RB? Dann was injured so Tomkins was playing CB with Sakho.

I'm sorry mate but it was a case of needs must. We just had to do it. If we had 2 from the moment Souare crashed his car we may have got through the season with a proper one and right footed cover.

It is a case of people ignoring the short term needs at the time to suit the issue they're arguing about now. Blame not having cover for Souare in August 2016 as much as you like but criticising parish and Sam for buying 2 left backs just makes people look like they don't understand or have started supporting us 3 months ago.

We will have a similar issue next season. Ward isn't getting any younger or better and Mensah is likely to have gone.

To solve us to bridge the gap, unless we develop the ground or get a new site. We're always close to ffp because of the wages we pay. Your support the team because you want to see progression, yes this is 5 years in the prem but why are we constantly looking for firefighters to save another season. We should be past that by now but we're not. That's bottom line of it for me. The club gone as far as it can with Steve parish as chairman. Imo

It isn't chairmanship that's the issue. We could do a lot worse and possibly will. It's the footballing side he's covering up poor decisions all the time. Souare the only left back, Pardew's extension, sacking him 7 months too late, FDB c0ck up this far.

its not short term vision tho is it?

looking back at it, the only managerial mistake he made was warnock ubt he was only a stopgap appointment anyway, every other appointment has done reasonably well and achieved the goal of us staying up.

the appointment of FDB is a long term plan in my eyes, he wants him in invest in youth and build a philosophy at palace, but we cant write him off after 3 games, 3 flipping games FFS.

so were in our 5th year in the PL, weve organically grown the squad into the best the clubs ever seen and the grounds had a decent facelift but he IS trying to develop the ground, he IS trying to develop the training ground & facilities but its not easy.

I think you quoted stoke as an example previously in this post, stoke have now had 10 years in the PL, the y had the same manager for the 1st 5 years and already had a brand new stadium. not to mention owned by one of the world biggest bookmakers. we are not punching at their weight yet.

The way I see it, the majority of fans are patient. The impatient fans will always be the ones who air their opinions quickest and the loudest. Also, you can't really judge based on this forum

I think the opposite of what Salako is saying is true. Rather than demanding that we become a free-flowing passing side competing with the best, we just want to stick to our strengths and have a couple of safe seasons!

Think this is very true. Most of us are happy with big Sam football.

Agree next summer we could be looking at a very long shopping list, with any luck and we're due some we can bring some youth through but reality is.

And sorry if I'm mistaken or wrong but won't the following players all be out of contract:

Ward
Fosu-Mensah
LoftusCheek
Cabaye
MacArthur

That's potentially two right backs and three central midfielders all leaving in the same window...

Having a manager that can work with kids, maybe doesn't seem like such a crazy idea...

Burley, Freedman,Pardew? Allardyce and Pulis obviously weren't keen on the way things were at Palace.

Freedman built a great team, although had to be encouraged/leant on to start aiming for the top of the league.

Pardew was great for 12 months. Shyte for 12 months.

I had a spare hour on holiday a couple of weeks ago, so I had a quick game of Fifa 2017. I challenge anyone to look at the Palace side in Fifa 2017 (as was in the summer of 2016) and not to accept that we have moved forwards.

As for Parish's tweet mentioned a few posts back, the tweet was dated 21 May 2017, Allardyce resigned on 24 May 2017. I am fully of the opinion that we would have been fighting for top 10 if Allardyce had still been the manager.

I haven't read all the posts going back, but we need to accept that Allardyce leaving, and the Neymar deal has changed things.

We also have to accept that we are Crystal Palace and not other clubs. Parish spends an age on player recruitment, but does not waste money. I was particularly taken with the following in this window:

Stoke and Imbula, he was signed in 2016 for £18 million and has done so badly that he was loaned to Toulouse in 2017.

West Ham and Snodgrass, signed for £10 million in 2017 and loaned to Aston Villa a few months later.

These is clear profligacy and Parish would be crucified if he did the same thing.

I am not saying that Parish is perfect, but I would sooner have him than many of the other Chairmen that we have had in my time supporting Palace.

That is where a lot of posters on here do their "scouting"

only burley was a mistake, how can u put pardew in that list when he kept us up with less money and in a better manner than alladyce?
