Is this the same press conference where FdB said he was looking at a striker and a goalkeeper? Why is that not inspiring - given your summation that that is exactly what we need?

My thoughts exactly. Sakho renewed bid being reported by the Times and the Mirror. with Wimmer being seen as the back-up if the Sakho bid fails.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wimmer to Palace (deal close )' by Guntrisoft If true and i hope it is. What have we saved money wise ? 10 million if we get him for 20 rather than the 30 that was originally asked. Now 10 mill is alot dont get me wrong however we could well be after today 9 pts behing our rivals. Could well be those 9 pts or 6 if you dont count liverpool that these points mean the difference between religation or survival. My point being would it not have been better to get Sahko from the preseason time and built a team around the way we played with him in the side last season. Yes would of cost 10 mill more but how many points extra would we of had and how much more settled would the team have been.

I suppose to put your question a different way, how much is a Premier League point 'worth' in monetary terms. It's an interesting question but I'm afraid i don't know the answer!
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Each point is worth about £2.7m for the first 40 points. This is based on 17th place being worth about £108m and the general consensus being you need 40 points to survive.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wimmer to Palace (deal close )' by Guntrisoft Or, in pot half empty terms, every point dropped until, say, 40 are obtained is potentially worth £108m. Originally posted by highbury eagle

Re: the comments about Sakho- it looks like Pullis will be making a full asking price bid. If it goes wrong it'll be the year that parish trying to do what he's done every season in leaving most signings late and chucking 9 points has finally facked us. Me and dannyh have been saying it every summer. One season it can go wrong. My god we need a response and a better squad after the window close and international break.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wimmer to Palace (deal close )' by Guntrisoft For some reason we seem to think that the first 3 games don't count and we don't need to sign players until transfer deadline day which is madness. Mind you with all the holes in the squad blowing our entire budget on just one player is also bonkers.

Re: the comments about Sakho- it looks like Pullis will be making a full asking price bid. As far as I'm aware the Sakho camp want to make sure deal is right for him not just to the highest bidder - sure I read that in the Goal.com link earlier this week...
