You quoted my post, but didn't actually engage with it in any way. Imagine if we started a thread for every free market nationalist nation that's f*cked. Russia? Turkey? Dare i say the US? Not to mention nearly every country in Africa. Do they symbolise the inherent issue with Capitalism too? If not, then i suggest we stop discussing Venezuela as a proxy for what's going on in this country. Because that's what all this is really about. None of you actually give a s*** about Venezuelans, if you did you would spend time trying yo learn about South American culture and history, which you clearly haven't. Venezuela tells us as much about Corbyn as Nigeria tells us about May. Edited by serial thriller (06 Aug 2017 10.23pm) But not out of context if you read the first post in this thread.

It must be galling to see what you believe in turn into a bloodbath hellhole but that, my young friend, is socialism. Keep deflecting, using the typical 'right wingers don't care' argument, or assuming that we don't we know our history or have never encountered Latin or other culture. What makes you the expert? Eaten some Lomo Saltado and had a bottle of Quilmes, whilst reading the Motorcycle Diaries, and now think you are some sort of Latin guru? Your sort always react this way. Whom will you hold up next as shining lights of socialism? Those 'flourishing' economies of Bolivia and Uruguay, where the economy is shrinking? What about North Korea?

But not out of context if you read the first post in this thread. Don't bother. He has lost the argument and can't handle it. Plus all he believes in has proven to be unworkable mumbo jumbo, given recent events in Venezuela.

Without sanctions Russia wouldn't be doing that badly and Turkey...while being governed by an awful religious party isn't seeing inflation at three figure levels and people shooting dogs for food. Capitalism does have issues and unfairness and it needs regulartion to mitigate them, but socialism is the way to hell paved with good intentions.....well initially...until the anti democratic elements get hold of it.....a socialist economy and democracy just don't seem to be able to co-exist....it always seems to end up with authoritarianism.

No system that attempts to enforce its existence against the will of the population can ever hope to deliver a humane society or one that is progressive and representative of its people. The Socialists of Venzeula have become as explicitly corrupt in their desire to maintain power, as those who proceeded Chavez in their desire to maintain their positions of wealth and power. I agree with some of the aspects of Chavez's reform - The nationalisation of the oil industry, the focus on increasing education and delivering back into the general population rather than the profits of foreign investors. The unfair deal for oil that the people of Venzeula received was explicitly unfair - and was gear towards the benefits of a minority and foreign investors. The outcome of this highlights something I strongly believe in that power where ever possible must be in the hands of the people, not government, and that attempts by government to undermine that should be regarded as treason against democracy. The problem of the world is we trust too few people, with too much power, because of the small benefits or fears they give or engender in us.

Corbyn's response of "What I condemn is the violence that's been done by any side, by all sides, in all this." is his stock reply to the violent actions of people he supports. When his IRA or Hamas friends blow up men, women and children, he trots out the same words.

Yep with you on that and probably exactly what those that were fired upon and their friends and families thought in 1972 on that Sunday in Derry. When a government's security forces start killing protesting civilians because they have the temerity to dissent then at that point the gloves have to come off.
