How much did Schlupp cost us? Personally I'm a bit worried if he's CB starter as what I read I doubt he's ready yet to lead our line and that's what we need. If all the add-ons come into play over £11 Mill. I believe I mentioned on HOL when Schlupp was signed that I had my reservations about him.To my miniscule mind he is not one thing or the other - not really an attacker or defender.

As an answer to the question if I think he is good enough: I know Ajax is big name and plays in the top of the Dutch league, however the League here is so weak and the pace so much lower then the PL that I very much doubt a player who can not make it into the Ajax line up is going to sort us out immediately. He will be used to time on the ball and a much less physical approach and I honestly have my doubt but hope he proves me wrong.

He adds some much needed pace to the back line but some of us believe that JR could be one for the future, as 3rd/4th choice option and a ultity player that could cover numerous positions, could be wrong though.

Quite alot to pay for a back up utility plyaer though. There is a need to provide at least stern competition if not replace Dann and Tomkins as starting CBs. So a big challenge for a young guy but that's what I think he has to aim for

If this deal happens, I'm reassured that FDB knows him. The guy is not a fool so must believe that the player either has what it takes for the premier league or will have. When a defender has real pace, they don't need to be as clinical as a player without as they have that bit in the tank to get back and correct their error - seen it a few times with Schlupp already. More bodies are desperately needed and we have to accept that the price range that we will be shopping in this window due to the spending in January, will mean we are not signing finished articles and more potential. I'm just glad FDB is doing it not Holloway.

Wasn't a regular last season at Ajax, but heard he has potential but we still need to bring in another defender or two.

Can you really see us signing 3 defenders this window? If Riedewald is to start for us, then it's a worrying signing. If he is to strengthen the squad, I think it is a decent signing. It is clearly the latter. Dann and Tomkins is not a bad CB partnership, it's the back-up that worries me (and why we were stuffed towards the end of the season in 16/17). But should one of Dann and Tomkins get injured, then having a solid 'fringe of Ajax'player step in, that's not bad. We probably could do with one more really solid, push-for-starting-place player who we have spent a bit of money on.

He is a full Dutch International FFS. What makes you think we are spending that sort of money for a fringe player. Sad to say it, but Dann and Tomkins not good enough as we saw last year. Both played OK in patches, and Tomkins looked better alongside Mamadou. Dann's drop in form was catastrophic. If we are going with Dann and Tomkins as a pairing in front of Hennesey, then I tell you now, we will be in exactly the same position as we were last year.
