Class politics. What a surprise. The only politics you know is divide and conquer, the 'them and us'.

Mason and Jones are from nice backgrounds. They sell books to people like you telling you they are working class and you lap it up. Mason was very Machiavellian not that long ago, espousing the virtues of Clive Lewis replacing Saint Jezza. He has changed his tune, highlighting his moral compass:

More to the point, and back to the topic, does having a private education preclude you from office? If so, you had better replace Jezza as he went to an 'independent school'.

To many on here being from a 'Middle Class' background is anathema. I am from a middle class background, I have friends who came from a working class background - we get on fine thank you very much.

I sent my daughter to a private school as I could afford it - I worked hard to be able to give her that education.I know people from a working class background who have done the same.Good luck to them I say.

And I used to know 'Left-Wing' teachers in state schools who despised the Private system - guess where they sent their offspring ?

I really don't care where a person comes from - I judge that person and form opinions about that person about what sort of human being they are.

Besides Johnson is like Trump and to an extent Corbyn.....He's popular, so attacks on his personality just backfire.

All he needs to do is crack a joke and be likeable and that's all that's required......I mean this has been happening for decades....Reagan, Blair, Trump, Trudeau.....Winning elections isn't about what the serious think.....They rarely change their minds on who to vote for.

It's the 'don't knows'....you know.

This is depressing. I'd hope all he would need were decent policies. Not one mention of policies on here.

Whoever wins is depressing for the other side.

Don't take it so seriously.

Enact your own personal politics and support the causes you personally believe in.....I'm sure you do anyway.

I quite like Waugh as a novelist. Total side note. I don't think Johnson is a good choice, objectively speaking, but he might be the only real choice they have.

They'd be better off letting May continue - The next five years will be brutal on whoever is in power politically.

I'm glad he's still being read by younger people. Great novelist- of his time and class of course.

I loved JRMs comments "the thin gruel has been further watered down" in relation to Cameron's negotiations with the EU !

I have not met JRM. He is the local MP of an old friend of mine who lives outside Bath.He has met JRM and told me some while ago that he can talk with authority on a range of subjects so his knowledge of topics "Across the board" is impressive.

You have regular pastry and coffee mornings and late 7 course banquet nights with Diane Abbott, chewing the fat over port and brandy, hence her her brain fades the next morning.

I would rather have a molar extracted without any anaesthetic.

So is Jamie's but I don't think I want him as Prime Minister.

I'd rather vote for a revived Liberal Democrats under the astute fiscal mindset of Vince Cable.
