Marriner deemed it a yellow, so not chance of a retrospective ban. Of course, that doesn't mean that Grujic isn't on the receiving end of a Milivoyevic reducer at some point in the future.

Can't quite see that happening as they both play for the Serbian national team.

Six minutes added time was criminal too

To my mind it was a fair time. Substitutions, injuries etc. Had it been 7 I would agree with you. Had it been 5 I would have been chuffed! As it was they were never going to score unless Coutinho had another free kick!

It was good after the match having Liverpool fans I was watching the game with giving grudging congratulations and saying they were going to miss out on the top 4 again!

Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time!

he had no thought of actually tackling JT. that was intentional all the way. can't call that a "tackle" by any definition.

It was neither a foul nor a tackle. It was an offence under Section 18 of the Offences against the Person Act 1861.

I think if our player was Grujic and got a 'Red', HOL would be criticising the referee.
Incidentally, Grujic was Klopp's first signing at Liverpool.

Having just seen the tackle, I would not criticise the ref at all, it was 100% red. You really must start to learn to disagree with the ref from time to time, it is getting boring.

We had used all our subs so we would have been down to 10 men if he had gone off. He would have been taken off if we had a sub to bring on.

Thanks for that Einstein

Having flicked through the game again earlier I was also intrigued as to why Mariner asked Tomkins to leave the field of play after receiving treatment. I was under the impression that this was no longer required if the offending opponent was carded.

If that is the case then it's another indicator of how poorly he handled the whole incident.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

I think what was also interesting was that there was no real reaction from our players. If that foul was committed on a Manure, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool player the ref would have been mobbed.

I see the Niasse red card has been rescinded on appeal. Wonder if we can appeal to have a yellow replaced by a red?

That's because we are class and they are not.

And it might have had a bit more prominence on MoTD.

They were more concerned for their team mate's well being than hounding the ref. Sam, on the other hand, was quite animated toward the 4th official.
