Second highest league position in 111 seasons of existence. Saved our asses from relegation and made only second ever FA Cup final appearance. Won 10 out of 12 away matches during one run. All in 17 months from initial appointment.

Prick. Worst manager. Ever. Awful appointment. Newcastle fans were right. A disgrace of a man that Pardew fella.

Agree with what you say, and I don't hate him at all because I think he always tried his best, but he needed to go. Some great times followed by twelve months of terrible football and results, plus his record in the transfer market was appalling.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I agree, but he needed to be replaced, not just his skill-set, but his steadying and leadership role in the dressing room and on the pitch. Pardew never appeared to acknowledge this.

Because he considered Jedi to be a threat!

And you know this how?

The trajectory was inexorably downward, though, Kermie. I'm not going to vilify him but I just couldn't see how he was going to turn round an inevitable relegation situation.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Yep. Can't argue with that. But, I always thought he deserved up until Xmas considering he was still averaging a point a game before the Man U match (or was it Chelsea?) before he was given the axe and things certainly weren't boring on the goals front. I was on the same page as Parish.

Good news though - we certainly were a relegation team post_Pardew and before new signings but now we are very much not. Credit to Sam big-time on three of the signings. Still not sure about £14mill for Schlupp or his ability. Don't think Al could have pulled that out of the hat.

I still don't understand why we accepted £4 million for Jedi, really £4 million is nothing in today's football market, especially given we had no other DM at the time and for 7 months after until Milivojevic came. Jedi was on comparatively minuscule wages to most at the club, the cost to replace him has been far too high, the club should have realised that, when you have good reliable 30+ player like Jedinak or Murray just keep hold of them. You end up having to spend 3x what you get for them, risking it on a younger player who might not be as good. Trim the squad of players like Ledley, Mutch, Lee, not your stalwarts.

Jedi was actually playing his best football since 2014 when we sold him, that was my greatest disappointment because I could see the prick that sold him wasn't going to last the season anyway.

This is what my point is - well put. A dumb thing to do by Pardew. And it HURT us.

The idea is you have a few options in your mind so when offers come in for players you can react to it. Or just go for whichever big name is available with a couple of days left of the transfer window, whether or not they're fit enough to play more than 2 matches in half a season.

Without Newcastle's chief scout Mr Carr, Pardew would've been garbage. The very garbage he turned out to be after exactly 12 months here.

Bottom line, he is showing prospective employers he's still got fight in him and also pointing out that he does have a track record of giving clubs a jump start.

Get job, try to keep it next time.

Attributing his downfall to his loyalty to the players...is blaming the players. End of.

What a t***.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.
