Not quite a love in. I had enough after the 5-4 loss. My real response was to Maurine about BFS not hitting the heights as claimed. I was asked about Pardew. Pardew's losses were a part because of his attacking football, but some of the tactical awareness and gun ho were a bit too much of a risk. I do think Pardew would have got victories against Swansea, Sunderland, Watford, Boro and Bournemouth but probably not West Brom as Pulis would have caught us big time on the counter attack. I think the question is could Pardew have had a good transfer window. For this I will say BFS would probably have brought in the better players required for the job in hand. Players look so much fitter under Allardyce. Even if Pardew had a great January window I think that would have fitness would have been an ongoing issue.

I’ve always rated him, always wanted him and always been irritated by all the ‘boring football’ nonsense. It goes without saying that trying to keep weak teams in the premier league might involve keeping games tight. To pull this off must be one of the most difficult jobs in football - how can he be criticised for this? He just gets the best out of the players he’s got and I don’t doubt that if we survive, we’ll see exciting football. Anyway, I’m really not arsed whether the neutral finds us ‘entertaining’ I enjoyed the Watford game a lot more than most of the home games that we’ve endured over the last year or two. And the sophistication that this ‘dinosaur’ has brought to our training, preparation, analysis, fitness is far beyond anything ever seen at this club.

well.. that was quite the outburst..made my lunch at work quite entertaining, albeit embarrassing. On another note i do feel that BS was the right man for the job and even though there was no hitting the ground running he knows what we need to do and i have the utmost faith he'll get us there.

I saw this from Big Sam He says he left us under doctors orders as he had a health scare. He was quite complimentary about Steve.

My first thought was why didn't he mention this at the time, quitting for health reasons, but then I came round to thinking, well its only his business why he left, for him it was a job, he told his employer who kept his council & everyone moved on - Also SA probably felt that if it became public that he may be in a In any event I am glad to hear that he didn't have what they were worried about.

To walk out of your job (when you have a job as high profile as managing a PL football club) you would have to reckon it was some kind of life ending or life altering situation - something where if the diagnosis was correct it would alter your ability to function properly or change you perspective on what was important (spending what time you have left with the family)

Trying to improve my green credentials I thought it worth posting because at the time many of us assumed that big Sam left after a row with Parish about how much he had to spend. From this interview it appears that was not the case and that he said a few kind words about our Steve. Edited by Badger11 (10 Sep 2022 9.40am)
