Punch had his best game for some time, he actually had a couple of shots in the first half. Having said that still not happy that he is prone to giving the ball away and bottles challenges. Having Luka helped the situation no end.

Good post mate. Did you happen to notice how Luka played ?
I thought he looked really good , but if he was actually cr*p and puncheon was good, I'm worried I might be colour blind and dyslexic

I thought Luka had a great game and came out of the ground discussing with my son if Luka or wilf was man of the match. However, opinions can be distorted by what you are looking for.
a) I was deliberately watching Luka and sakho because they are new players and I was interested in what they had to offer.
b) Wilf caught the eye with his dynamic running and exciting dribbles.
As I said the rest of the team just seemed to have good solid games. It was your original post that made me revisit Puncheons performance and study what he had to offer in that particular game. It was only then that I realised how impressive he had actually been.

I thought he and Ward were again our worst outfield players. Sakho and Lukaka the best. What does this tellus?

maybe that not everyone always plays to the same standard and that we've signed a player from Everton without anyone noticing?

I thought that Luka or sakho were motm. Sakho had time on the ball and a better touch than most midfielders. Pva was decent, so fast. Thought everyone except puncheon and ward played well.
Point at west brom and beat Watford and we will be flying.

Puncheon was better than recently, but that's not saying much. Incredible that he starts every week yet McArthur had to sit on the bench yesterday.

Puncheon although not in sparkling form of late certainly showed what is expected of a captain on the field of play and what we have been missing in terms 'talking, pointing, leading, encouraging and motivating the team on the park'.
He talked to the ref and certainly relished the opportunity and I thought he played better with the additional responsibilities placed on his shoulders.

I don't think Jimmy Mac has the engine to last a whole game and is much more effective interchanging with Cabaye.

According to the stats, he's been better than Cabaye in nearly all areas.

A local lad who has been one of the best goal scoring midfielders we’ve had in one of the most successful eras in the club’s history.

Whether you think he needs to be replaced or not, the lack of respect for this man is criminal.
