Did you miss this bit: "The possibility of the Belgian striker leaving Crystal Palace this month, however, has not been ruled out."

BFS is supposed to be a manager. Benteke has undeniable talent and it's BFS' job to motivate him to get it out of him.

He's injured anyway, so I guess we have to wait until he's back and matchfit, by which time BFS will have worked out how to use hime better

Difficult one - this guy has really pi**ed me off the last few weeks, doesn't look interested, work rate poor etc, etc - that clip though shows his undoubted talent, technical ability, strong in the air, great with both feet, strong in possession and hold the front page - taking penalties and scoring them.
Maybe not the sort of player you can count on in a relegation scrap, but hey... if we start winning and confidence begins to rise, we just see the old Benteke back!!

Not quite sure if you understand, but the reason wingers cut in is to allow full back to overlap, creating overloads in last third of the pitch

Problem with Palace, especially now under Sam, is that FBs are strictly under instruction to not overlap wingers. If that is the case, the Zaha should indeed be on the right, and Townsend on the left, to create more crossing opportunities for Big Ben

I don't think you can blame SA for that!

Who is going to overlap at the moment? Ward playing right-footed on the left? Kelly or Tomkins on the right flank?

It happened plenty on both flanks when Ward/Souare was the combination, and has happened when Fryers comes on to try and get more balls into the box, but we just don't line up with the right personal to allow it to happen.

I think the owners will look at the last transfer window and decide not to get in anyone.

Isn't it just money down the drain you wouldn't spend it if it was your own money.

I guess if it balances financially that might be different but its very risky there is no guarantee that the player will perform well.

Are you honestly saying Gayle was/would be as good as Defoe! Jeez

Absolute tosh.

The guy's one of if not the best strikers we've ever had at Selhurst. Strong, powerful, incredible in the air, good feet....can't believe people are saying get rid after one missed penalty and a couple of sub-bar performances. He's not exactly getting stellar service, is he?

You forgot to put in one word with his attributes and that word being LAZY, and Big Sam has seen for himself what we all see week in week out. Benteke does not chase balls or do anything that might make him sweat. Liverpool new exactly what they were doing when they sold him to us and AP fell for it.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Pressures the defender and continues on to the goalkeeper. Scores.

"Benteke is lazy" is just the new "Wilf has no end product"

That is the only time you will see him chase a ball. Normally he will stand there and wait for the ball to come to him and when it does he goes a few yards and gives up and ends up losing the ball. As I said he is lazy and it has been noticed by managers, commentators and even by our own managers and staff. I would think that is the reason he was sold by Liverpool.

Confident Benteke will prove the doubters wrong.
Has already scored 8 and we need him.
Agree, some of Pardew's other signings were questionable,Mc Carthy , Mutch spring to mind.
