He might need to appoint his own support staff too... lets face it Millen etc prepare our lads to play and fitness/injuries/discipline are a problem too.

Big Sam has never managed a team that has been relegated (look at the job he did with Sunderland last year and they were in a much worse position then than we are now!) Have faith people. I think you will find that Allardice was managing Notts County when they were relegated, so not entirely true. However his recent records suggests he will find a way of getting us out of this mess. After last nights performance he has his work cut out.

We'll stay up but it won't be pretty. We've thankfully got just two league games before the end of the window, by which time we will surely have strengthened and hopefully, finally, will get something resembling a full squad together rather than the constant stream of injuries we've endured over the last 12 months. Recruitments needed now. Centre back, left back, defensive mid and a left winger.

The injury list is pretty grim reading for January. We need a DM and a full back as a priority, a CB would be ideal and we need at least another striker. Campbell and Beneteke alone won't cut it.

After last nights performance he has his work cut out. Extract from Wiki.... Notts County In January 1997, Allardyce made his return to football as manager of struggling Division Two club Notts County. He arrived too late to save them from relegation in 1996–97, and in his autobiography described how the players "would not respond" to his coaching methods as they went 18 games without a win and pressure mounted on Allardyce. However he held on to his job, and led the club to promotion as champions of Division Three at the end of the 1997–98 season, built upon a three-man defence and a mid-season run of ten consecutive wins. County broke several club and national records, winning the title by a 19-point margin and becoming the first post-war side to win promotion in March Despite the success, chairman Derek Pavis refused to spend money on transfers, and as a result fell out with Allardyce. Allardyce was eventually allowed to spend £50,000 on striker Kevin Rapley, who helped the club to steer clear of relegation at the end of the 1998–99 campaign. In the summer he signed midfielder Craig Ramage and utility player Clayton Blackmore. Allardyce remained in charge at Meadow Lane until 14 October 1999, when he resigned his post at Notts County to return to Bolton Wanderers.] I meant to say he never has had a Prem Team relegated, but having read the above account of his time at Notts County I think you could say he fully redeemed himself!

Would be nice to get 6 points from those but, realistically, more likely 3.

I'll be happy with a very surprising 1 or miraculous 2 considering how incredibly sh1te we have been the last couple of games.

I have no doubt that we will stay up, because there will be 3 teams worse than us, just about.

This is the Palace way- Full of optimism and things going our way then bang it all goes up in the air why o why can't our club not do things the easy way for a change. Mr Parish have you really made the right choice in BFS? watching him in the dugout last night arms crossed chewing gum suggests to me he has no fire in that big belly of his.
We are Palace from Selhurst. |
