Great post, agree with every word Seconded. Also people have short memories. 'When he got Bolton Wanderers promoted to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2000-01, he consolidated in 16th and 17th place for two seasons before four successive finishes in the top 10 and Uefa Cup football, before announcing his intention to leave on 29 April 2007 with Bolton in fifth.' That's Bolton in fifth, and in the UEFA Cup. BOLTON. I think he has a great chance of doing a job of keeping us in the division for 3 more years, long enough for us to get the stand and everything else progressed and upgraded to then start thinking about moving up a level.
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

Looks like things have moved amazingly quickly with up to 4 players coming in. Surely one has got to be a LB?

Well enjoy your Christmas, I do not personally Mancini would have come and we probably could not have afforded him, nice Man but not for us, lets now be united because that is what is need to save this club, be positive and lets go forward and upwards! Pray tell how we could not have afforded him? Just by being in the prem makes us one of the 30 richest clubs in the world, i think. Already been reported that fàt head is getting twice AP s wages. Dont know how true that is. Will always support the team and decisions SP make but in no way does it make me deluded.

There are certainly a lot of deluded people on here indeed. Some of the names mentioned are complete fantasy. As far as Sams style of play it's suited to what need...to survive. All this bollox about expansive football has proved an utter folly and got us into this mess. Why is it deluded? We are f***ing loaded and playing in one of the top leagues in the world. Also every club fat head has been at fans have moaned about his style of play after the first year.

I'm sorry I haven't read the countless pages on here so far but here's my tuppence worth... I really wonder what role the Americans played in this. This seems to me to be a purely pragmatic choice, completely inconsistent with the football Pardew was trying to implement, seemingly with Parish's full backing, in the past year. It's now clear that the only thing that matters is staying up. Which, for those who like watching MOTD and seeing Palace on, or the faceless Yanks none of us could probably notice if we were in the same f*cking lift together, is fine. But I feel a touch more distant to the club today than I did this time last week, and I was never a massive Pardew fan. What we're aiming for now is basically to look identical to a Stoke, a West Brom, a Swansea. Any identity we had of good young players, local boys who played exciting football is dying.
If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4 |

You shouldn't be surprised. This trend is throughout the whole game and is only going to get worse.

Yeah mate I'm not, problem as I see it is rationally, this is what's best for the club, but football is an emotional connection, and the more rational the actions of the club are becoming, the less emotionally connected I feel to it all.

The last transfer window Parish even said no more players came in because the wage limit for FFP had been hit. At times when people go on about Sams play style it feels like they are just following a trend and not even really watched what he does yes the guy likes target man but look at Sunderland Defoe was up top he is not a big man. Sam football is not the best to watch but it gets results he is not like people claim just long ball he makes the team keep the ball and keep it tight. I didn't want him at the club for me it is the same old not looking at bigger picture long term which I would of gone for a EU guy who has experience in other leagues and had good youth setups like DeBoar or Klinsman but I do understand the reason to choose Sam he can get us out of a tight spot for this current season and lol he knows about shaddy dealings which could help rather then us taking months to sign a player. We need to clear out a load of people (I know the squad is already small but lot of deadwood around this goes for staff as well) if this happens he will be spending more then 20m Edited by grumpymort (23 Dec 2016 11.48pm)

Spot on - and so has Parrish been once again. The speed Big Sam has come in Pardew was a dead man walking for several weeks - Parrish couldn't allow any spec while AP was in charge so gave him one of the more convincing votes of confidence you are ever likely to hear, but the timing means his mind was already made up but we got the best out of AP while his replacement was being lined up - some on here thought SP was keeping his man too long, I think it took the Swansea shambles to convince him beyond the point of no return - it's very well-timed seeing as we have a manager in charge v Watford and the window's about to open. Parrish afforded AP all the time he could reasonably expect - precisely when that time ran out he acted immediately, decisively and effectively. We are one of 13 clubs in the prem for whom survival is the aim, any higher is a bonus. You can't raise those expectations by just wishing, we still need to consolidate and build - once the stadium is upgraded we can look forward to being a stable prem club, not a championship outfit punching above its weight which is where we are at right now. Amen to that!!! Big, Fat whatever you call him - Sam Allardyce is our present manager. Let us unite behind him and the team, that's all that matters.
