I think it might be Arsenal as they (AFCON teams) have to train with their squads, and I might be imagining here but I think I recall them playing friendlies before the tournament. I see the training camp starts on the 2/1 in Abu Dhabi.
The pyramid to beat all pyramids!! Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in? |

It's every player's ambition to play international football. This is our forth season in the PL and if the last manager and owners have failed to provide sufficient cover that's hardly Zaha's fault. In any event, doesn't Townsend love playing on the right? But Zaha wasn't going to the AFCON when the last window was open. And what is "sufficient cover"? Should Pardew and the owners have had another £25m player sitting on the bench waiting for Zaha to disappear for a few weeks?? Your post makes no sense, especially as you've answered your own criticism with the final line.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha announced in Ivory Coast squad for Africa Cup' by jamiemartin721 As it's still a provisional squad.Iam hoping Wilf can&will opt to miss this AFCON on grounds of it being short notice since he decided to play for Ivory Coast.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha announced in Ivory Coast squad for Africa Cup' by jamiemartin721 If I remember correctly, he said that he wouldn't go to this tournament due to our predicament. Also, he has the ability to reject the call-up (but apparently he's not allowed to play for us or some weird s*** my mate said that I don't really believe).

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha announced in Ivory Coast squad for Africa Cup' by jamiemartin721 Wait, didn't his agent (or whoever made the announcement about the change of nation allegiance a week ago) say that although Wilf was declaring for Ivory Coast he wouldn't be going to this year's AFCON?

There maybe something in this as there maybe a rule that says 'If you refuse to play in a FIFA tournament when you have been chosen you can't play club football at the same time', anyone got the time to look if there is! Wilf's situation maybe different as he can still play for another country. He could say he still wants to play for England & hasn't chosen one country 100%.

FIFA rules stipulate that players must respect call-ups unless they are injured but I think that it's up to the individual federation to complain to FIFA There are seven Cameroon players who have said they don't want to go including Liverpool defender Joel Matip

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha announced in Ivory Coast squad for Africa Cup' by jamiemartin721 An interesting test for the new manager - would we really let a player go to the Afro Nations for 6 weeks at such an important time for us? OK he was born there - but that's about all his career has been nurtured by Palace who have made him the player he is. What if he gets a serious injury? I think his England career is hanging on his lack of end product but he is working on it.....

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha announced in Ivory Coast squad for Africa Cup' by jamiemartin721 Page 26-29. basically players must be released 14 days prior to their first game in a finals competition. Also says a player cannot refuse a callup, and cannot play for his club if he does. African nations have used these clauses in the past to force players to show up, seems stupid to me as hes likely not going to play well. I do not see that it details very well, a situation where a player is eligible for more than one nation, surely he cannot be forced to play for one or the other, it has to be his choice initially ?
