There is nothing wrong with our players (well most of them anyway) and it's the coaching, tactics and motivation that needs to improve and buying new players won't change that.

It's only a few months that we were all complaining that Dann wasn't being picked for England yet now his captaincy and organisational skills have all but disappeared.

Townsend was an inspiration for Newcastle yet he's now just a shadow of the player that he was

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the tactics or motivation of the team on Saturday. That is maybe the best drilled performance I've seen under Pardew.

We restricted City to their lowest number of shots all season (10). Compare that to last season when they beat us 1 nil at home after 21 shots.

The players fell asleep at the corner and I don't know who is to blame for this. In the first half we had someone covering the near post, and we had just faced a low ball in on the previous corner. Personally I think the players have to shoulder most of the blame for that. Cabaye and Puncheon were just standing around not concentrating.

Keep playing like we did on Saturday and we'll go up the league.

Well you are very naïve and innocent.

There's nothing like millions of pounds on next manager markets. It's a few grand at most.

It means the market is subject to wide variation. If you walked into a Ladbrokes in North London and put £500 on Pochettino to be next manager to leave, he'd be 5/1 in about ten minutes (currently 150/1).

Traders are looking at the money, they don't have some top secret sources at Premier League clubs.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Can you spot the contradiction? 'Well-drilled' teams don't 'fall asleep'. Pulis' teams are well-drilled, but unexciting, Pardew's are a shambles, but entertaining. If he can't find a middle way then the only direction we'll be going is to the Championship.

Under Pulis our defenders had a task and they stuck to it. Under Pardew its clear that thy are just told to pick up the nearest player

I just get the feeling that even if we lose to both Swansea and Southampton and slip into the 'Bottom 3', the 'Board' will still perservere with Pardew, believing that there is still a long way to go and that the 'Transfer Window' will be opening in January.

And there lies one of the key problems ... persevering with a manager who clearly hasn't got the nouse to organise his team to stop other teams. When you can't buy a win you have to concentrate on doing the basics properly again. The more we lose, the more team spirit diminishes. Once that goes then the belief goes and that's a dangerous precipice ... and one we find ourselves in now!

Thing is, though, Pardew has never had, to my knowledge, a losing streak like this one in all his managerial career. Before he came on board, ok, he was seen as a bit of a marmite manager but, on the whole, capable at this level.

Do 'capable' managers become 'sh*t' all of a sudden? I don't think they do.

So what's goin' on, eh?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I forgot to mention he didn't win any of the first 7 games of the following season, So from Boxing day 2013 until the end of the season i think Newcastle picked up only 16 points, And did not win any of the first 7 games of 2014/15

When we win well against Swansea next Saturday ,draw with Southampton and beat Hull away the following Saturday, all the negatively will begin to melt away.
Can't see us getting anything against Arsenal,Manure or Chelsea though, but at least we will be on 18 points heading into the new window and the teams below us will continue to struggle.

Yes, they may well be, but their teams in the US can't be relegated. They will take an entirely different view of our relegation.

we'll see dave. you and i know they didn't put up money to be in the championship. but, i'm telling you, watching these guys over here - they have money but...

...they don't get IT.

they don't. you and i get IT. these are confused fellows. the question you put forth is the correct one: does relegation change their behavior? americans don't usually understand relegation in it's full ramifications. you'd expect billionaires to be smarter but i know two and they aren't.
