Didn't know him well but our paths crossed a few times. Sad news this, especially as it's something that really should have failsafes in place to prevent it happening in the first place.

Another of the victims is said to be a Palace fan. I know there was a suggestion of applause in the 19th minute, so just making a comment that the other should also be acknowledged in some way too.

Aren't all clubs honouring a minute silence for Remembrance Day tomorrow and Sunday as well? Not sure. I mean I'm not at the game anyway...

Agreed. With a minute's silence already planned, I think, and multiple fans being victims I'm assuming the club will make am announcement on it prior to that.

I should probably caveat that given that we are the local club, the silence (or whatever) ought to be for all victims not just those that were supporters of Palace.

I completely understand where people are coming from in wanting to know why this happened. The truth is it will be quite some time before the full facts come out. Was the driver speeding, was it human error, was he taken ill, on his phone, mechanical failure and so on. All of these are theories and speculation. Of course it matters in the wider picture of things and people will want answers. But right now, right here on this Friday night as people go home to their families for the weekend ahead, as night closes in. It doesn't matter all that much. The pain the families and friends of the deceased and the injured must be going through will be all encompassing , the most crushing pain and despair in the world. Hold them in your thoughts and leave the to why and how to another day. I moved to bexley from croydon in 2009 after being born and raised there . My family and a large majority of my friends still live there. Friends of friends of friends of the victim are showing on my news feeds. Now the victims have been given names and faces and personal stories this now becomes more real if you like. Some were members of the cpfc family as I have been calling it. Some were parents to very young children. All were loved by someone and all will be mourned for in various way. My heart absolutely breaks for them all and the pain people feel will intensify as more are named and identified. If one thing comes to be is that life is short, life is precious. Will we be relegated, will Pardew be sacked? Does any of it matter right now. No it doesn't. It doesn't matter very much at all at the moment.
When I was a young girl my Mother said to me.. You listen here kid you're CPFC |
