We don't really know how the selling of Jedi panned out. Maybe he expressed a strong feeling that he wasn't happy to be on the bench all (most of) the time? Maybe they discussed his place in the team and he simply decided his bread was buttered best by going? I'm just saying that the decision for him to leave, whether we needed the £4m or not, may quite possibly have been out of of Pardew's hands. Edited by The_Aviator (26 Sep 2016 5.27pm) Apart from Scott Dann stepping up as a leader, setting the bench mark for desire and performance. Jimmy Mac has had an equally impressive start in that midfield role (although i'll concede he's normally a 7-8/10 anyway). You can't have players like Jedi on the bench, he's a leader. Why hold on to him for sentiment? That stifles growth of others, which is detrimental to the team and individuals progression - What if we kept Jedi for two more years and someone like Boateng leaves because he can't see a path into the first team? (humour me and assume he's good enough) Plus, while he was a great leader and superb in the air, he slowed our play down/gave it away (more than puncheon before someone goes there) and again, to progress we have to evolve. A 32 year old isn't our future, much like Mr Cabaye won't be in a season or so. Flamini is the perfect foil, he'll accept that he isn't going to play all the games this season but when he's called upon, he'll do a job. He'll also has great experience and leadership qualities. As for the sale of Bolasie, I almost feel bad for Everton £25m + is outrageous money for a 27 year old who flatters to deceive.

Id say both, we're just as good without him, have loads of money in the kitty too. Everton are enjoying him in their side too. Id say palace have the upper hand, got an equally good winger and 27 odd mllion cheaper.
