Would be a good squad player on a free.

Obviously Townsend is Bolasies replacement.

Not every player we sign can be an A lister...

In fact it is incredibly difficult for us to attract "A Listers" to our club and some of the suggestions I have seen on HOL have been ludicrous.

No one is after A Listers as you put it, But HRK come the f*** on, surely we have gone a bit beyond buying ex championship misfits like Doyle ?

If we do buy him, I am seriously going to start wondering if anyone in the purchasing dept. knows what the fcuk they are doing.

Bookies odds are not very reliable, but Robson-Kanu + Benteke = PL viability, plus Berahino of course!

We're not buying him. He's free...

Sell Gayle for £10M and sign Hal for free.

Sell Bolasie for £25M and buy Andros Townsend for £13M

Buy Benteke for £30M

Net spend on those three signings would be: £8M

Bloody good business!!

Yes Hal isn't fantastic but he'll be our third choice striker... You can't sign a £20M striker and have him third choice at a club of our size.

Really sorry but that post looks a little bit too much like common sense for my liking....

Looks like he's pretty versatile. Can function both as striker and winger. Given that he would be third choice in both roles, could be a great piece of business on a free

Benteke , Wickham , Campbell , the bloke from Everton, Kanu

That will be fifth choice at best

It isn't as simple as just bidding for players - The Berahino deal from WBA can't happen until they bring someone in. Similar permutations will be in play with most players, especially when you're trying to do deals domestically. Clubs don't want to weaken their position and strengthen the competition in one move. Or like Liverpool, they want to wait til the last possible moment to try and extract the most amount of cash out of you (personally I think he'll end up on loan somewhere in Europe).

You'd imagine we're trying to get the striker deal done before; a) accepting anything on YB b) tying up other deals, like the Badu suggestion (who would be an upgrade on the Ledley/Jedi options)

But just because you're playing a waiting game for players like SB/CB you don't go and buy Hal Robson bloody Kanu. He's not worth a shake, let alone a contract. Be patient and aim higher, please.

Sorry fella I've no idea where that reply has come from... I've made no reference whatsoever to Parish and co, nor have I mentioned Berahino, Liverpool or anything else in your long winded post (if I'm honest I lost interest after you're first sentence)

I've merely pointed out we have one striker... Robson Kanu is better than Campbell. He would be free and on reasonable wages. As a squad player we've had worse. I didn't say he should be wearing number 9

I've not been impatient and I'll set my sights as high or low as I want... You sound like an obnoxious t*** of a school teacher speaking to people like that.

not nessesarolly is he better than Campbell.

just cos he had a good euros doesn't mean he's better than campbell at all.

Jamaica could qualify for the next world cup and marriapa could be their player of the tournament and all of a sudden he could be mentioned on here as one we let go wrongly. ..

I honesty be beleive kanu will be average at best for us. but willin to go with pards

I dont think HRK is good enough for the Prem and question the the point in having a striker on the bench who is never likely to be good enough to challenge the main strikers.?
HRK has been knocking around Reading for a while now and even the Royals fans dont rate him! I know he scored a nice goal in the euros but that hardly elevates him to being a top quality striker.
I really hope we swerve this one!

he has scored a goal once every 8 games for Reading over 8 years, another Campbell surely we are aiming higher than him
