I don't think fans think Sakho is crap, it's just they'd rather see Benteke or Berahino as they are more prolific and would rather see one of them at the club. It's just opinion mate, don't let it get to you. That's the whole point of this site, varying opinions!

Not for me - too much money for another journeyman striker peddling his wares in the EPL.

Not for me either, but journeyman is hardly true. Only 26, twos clubs during his adult career (I'll admit to wiking at lookapedia). It's the fact that he is average rather than the fact that he is a journeyman that bothers me.

One of whom is supposed to be a "big name" I hope that's not Sakho.

I've got a feeling it will be. I'm still holding out hope we've managed to get Benteke and are just sorting out the finer details before announcing the deal.

Benteke plus Sakho would be great. But there are plenty more names on the rumour mill list like Babacar who would be pretty good additions

To be fair, it's being reported by Ian Abrahams a supporter of West Ham, if he's in the know with any transfer rumours you'd think it'd involve them.

Not happy about this transfer, we're spending more on him than what we sold Gayle for and I see no upgrade.

He certainly is an upgrade on Gayle.

Just look at that 10 yard chance in ET in the FA Final before looking at Sakho's goals, most of which I saw live on tv when he was playing and scoring regularly in West Ham's decent start, season before last.

Sakho would've scored that. Sakho is not an amazing signing but he is certainly an upgrade on all of Gayle, Murray, Campbell.

If we sign Sakho it will be who we sign in addition as competition and to play behind the choice of strikers.

I've seen a lot of his goals and a lot of them were tap-ins in the season he was on form, poachers goals. The link below shows this

Whilst a poacher could be useful for us, I thought we were after a more complete striker, something that Gayle wasn't either - especially for 15 mil.

It's not his playing ability that should be called in to question, more the possibility that he's a bit of a loon.

A very good signing but not quite the stellar name some of us might have hoped for.

About 1:3 goals:games ratio for West Ham and will turn 27 towards the end of the year. He is definitely a good player and an upgrade at the very least on our non-Wickham options and on Gayle.

Being in the right place and the right time is underrated and something Gayle pretty much never did. After that you've got to beat the defender to the ball or get the better of him.

Sakho can also out jump defenders in the box where Gayle cannot or does not. It's all very well Gayle leaping higher than a defender onto one of Delaney's targeted hoofs, but what happened after? Into the keeper's hands/into the possession of the opposition.

I am in no doubt that Sakho is a better striker than Gayle. Feed Sakho in the mixer and he will score some goals. Feed Gayle and he won't even be there, just like he wasn't before.

Yes quite a lot better if he stays fit, a definite upgrade on Gayle, a heap stronger, taller and more powerful, and quite a bargain if the money we got from selling Gayle is discounted.

Yes - sorry - I should have checked - average is a better desription
