I seem to remember Jermaine Easter gettin some flak in the past.

Cant believe it took three pages for this to get listed. Absolutely dire player

One fans meat is anothers poison so to speak. Most of the players listed had their moments Pardews was classic,What if he hadn't scored in the cup against Liverpool?
I remember Jermaine Easter scoring a great goal at Vicarage rd a few seasons back and Whittle for Many was a hero. For me though Kugi's attitude to the fans was poor on many occasions Pi..ed me off.

Am I correct in recalling Kuqi being dropped, or fined, or sold - whatever it was - in response to his gestures to the Holmesdale End when he was substituted in one game. Terrible acquisition. Was it Peter Taylor or Neil Warnock who brought him in? Kuqi was in the same unlikeable category as Ruddock. (And who, while we're on the subject, brought him in?)

It was Peter Taylor who signed Kuqi.
At Ipswich, Joe Royle thought that Kuqi could injure himself by his celebration whereby he dived on to the ground with a mighty thud.

Some of these players had good spells as well as bad ones, Barber, Bowry, Newman - Mick hill is a good shout, but Venables would always get some of his mates in or players who were signed up with agents who Tel was matey with - late 70s we got Tony Hazell who played 600 times for Millwall at right back, he had brown hair in the style of Purdey from the New Avengers and as a young lad bantering with a West Ham follower of the same age I noticed even back then that Tony would always look worried and might redden a shade or two when the ball got near to him because he knew he was crap.

Will always be a god to me - scored the winner in my first ever game in 1974

As a holder of a degree in history, I am contractually obligated to point out that "what if" doesn't exist in a historical context. What happened, happened. Who but the ball in the Scouser's net? On that day it was the Fab Four of Brighty (assisted by "John Pemberton, a wonderful run here" ), Gary-O, Andy G and Super Al.

Alan Whittle? Really?

I wonder whether any other oldies will agree with the inclusion in this list of Denis Uphill. Aptly named, he was the eternal plodder. And I will never ever forget one miss at the Whitehorse end; about three yards out, in the centre of the goal, and unmarked, he lifted it several yards over the crossbar.

And who remembers Borg Thorup (or Throw-up, as a mate of mine called him)? Probably almost nobody - he only played once.

I don`t know if you went to every game JR, but I am sure it was more than once at both ends of Selhurst, and elsewhere too.

Fair comment, Lanky, but it does seem that the miss I referred to was particularly memorable. I don't know whether you've got "Crystal Palace On This Day" (which someone gave me for Christmas), but in his Foreword to the book Matt Lawrence talks about his father having been a Palace supporter. He writes, "Unfortunately, the over-riding memory of his younger years was Dennis Uphill missing from two yards in the early sixties." I was a bit more charitable, with my "three yards".

I informed someone that "Doris" had been selected for England U21s and he thought I was on a "Wind Up".

That selection was a mistake by the FA - it was intended for Kenny Sansom !

Players can't help being not quite up to scratch, just not good enough etc., and I can accept that.

A lot of the players mentioned fall into that category. For example, my expectation of Tommy Langley was low - and he duly lived up to that.

It's the players that didn't try and never looked bothered that upset me. Not had too many down the years, but Jimmy Kebe is the best / worst example.
