Anyone still think we could be in for this guy?
While I'm sure he would be a bit of a punt, as he's an unknown quality, he does look the type of player that we need. He's big, strong, can bring others into play and can get on the end of crosses to make the net bulge.

I personally do think that michy batshuayi looks the more exciting player. He's young, rapid, and the thought of having our own benteke is very appealing. However, I can't realistically see us being able to afford him or entice him over clubs like Tottenham or arsenal, although, there is still a chance.

I'm not even sure we will be in for a striker in January having already bought in wickham who seems to be improving with time.

No doubt he is a very good player, but he is an unknown quality in terms of how he will perform in the premier league, as is michy. He did look good in that game and performed on the world stage in the World Cup so there's little reason to suggest he couldn't do it in the prem

Having adopted Sporting over Benfica as team to follow down here, I've seen a fair bit of him. I'm still unconvinced, but he's winning me over each time I see him play.
He's by no means prolific, but he scores important goals. Like now he's just tucked away a second very well indeed against Iker Casillas after hitting the bar 10 mins ago.
It's just that this is the Portuguese league, not the Prem and I'm still not convinced.

I've seen his Youtubes and nothing there to impress me except a good header. I wouldn't consider him. All his youtube goals (nearly all) were from great passes - him 6 yards out - or jammy opposition mistakes. He also didn't appear as buff and solid on his feet as say a Benik Afobe or Demba or Austin. No, I want a frigging ORK up forward!

I've been a big fan of Slimani since his effort against Germany at the World Cup. If he's good enough to get through Mertesacker and Hoewedes, he's good enough to get through just about anyone. Everyone remembers Neuer's heroics in that match, but the reason he had to be so active was that Germany had a horrific time dealing with Slimani. I think he could bring a lot to our club, for a very fair price.
