I don't agree with Claekson's view of the world but I have fun with his over reliance on sat nav and his love of cars that most of us will never be able to afford. For me, Top Gear is a comedy of the absurd. Most of the cars they have aren't available in the US anyway. He'll probably be back next week. Hopefully, we will be spared Gary Lineker in the reasonably priced car. Talk about a tame driver! He probably tried to "lob" his way through Gambon.

Clarkson plays his cartoon character very well (and very profitably) - that of fat, balding out of condition middle Englander who's dress sense doesn't stretch beyond Next catalogue. He's cultivated a persona as a cardboard cut out, stereotypical unapologetic xenophobe trading on cardboard cut out stereotypes of everyone and everything else. Edited by The Sash (11 Mar 2015 1.01pm) If possession of this dubious set of attributes is sufficient to qualify one to be described as "talented" then I can only say God help the entertainment industry.

Shouldn't what has actually happened here hold some sway over whether he should be back on our screens? If he's actually physically assaulted someone, just because we find him entertaining that's not the be all and end all. The BBC already have a reputation for letting all kinds of behaviour slide on account of their stars popularity. It's not a management style that's served them well. Let's detach this from "PC" on one side and "team clarkson" on the other. If it turns out this was a nothing incident, he should definitely keep his job. If he essentially lamped someone for no good reason then he shouldn't. Edited by imbored (11 Mar 2015 9.05pm)

No more TV appearances for him too I guess as he also 'became angry' while at work.

Incidents in a contact sport are perhaps a bit different from hitting someone because your dinner is late, if it turns out that's actually what happened. If you disagree, I wouldn't want to be your missus, haha. Joke.

Jedinak's, I hope, moment of madness, would be what most would call a "cheap shot". Whether this was similar, or a dust up as James May described it, who knows.

As for the other point, I'm stating that within contact sports, a degree of physical aggression is expected and punished within the culture of that sport. As such, a ten second brawl in rugby is unlikely to see them all banned from the sport, but a brawl in a boardroom is likely to see people fired. Edited by imbored (11 Mar 2015 10.04pm)
