I would have Wilf before Puncheon any day. Class if permanent and form temporary. Let's buy him back - making a decent profit still - and give him a run of games in Prem. Maybe if Moyes had shown him some faith - he looked ok in Charity shield - then he may not have got sacked!! I would also have Moses in the team ahead of Puncheon. This is not saying he hasn't had a good few months, but there are better players around and if we can now attract them and build on this season let's do it. Lets Nath Clyne back to replace Ward and give Kenny Samson and Gareth Southgate a call.

Wilf run Utd ragged at OT 2YRS AGO in the League Cup. Wilf has an England cap. Why judge where Wilf is ATM let alone compare him to a seasoned pro who's had a decent last half season? I have to agree to some extent, Punch is in his prime no doubt and whilst he can still improve, he hasn't got as long as Zaha to do so. However, as things stand at the moment, Punch has performed consistently better than Zaha (When Zaha did play). But yes, in 6/7 years time I believe Zaha will be better than Puncheon right now

Fairly delusional, Zaha is by far the better option. One season of not playing more than substitute for massively underperforming teams doesn't make Puncheon better. Puncheon is good, no mistaking, but he has a terrible history of inconsistency, underperformance and not turning up for games. He's been excellent for us under Pulis, and I think Pulis has brought the best out of him, like Warnock did with Ambrose.
Murray scored 31 goals in the championship last season does that make him a better goal scorer then Luis Suarez who scored less in the premier league. You talk about consistency and forget last year Wilf had a period when he was truly awful. Edited by EastEndPalace (04 May 2014 1.04pm) Oh my f***ing god. When Puncheon could've done what Wilf did to teams in any league in the world last season, be it prem or league 2 - let me know. There's a massive difference between the 2. People are f***ing deluded and have ridiculous memories on here I swear to god. He has been managed poorly as soon as Holloway stepped in up until now and that is what went wrong. But comparing him to Punch after last season? Even in the championship, really? f***ing hellll
He was a very good player, but Tom Ince got 18 goals and 14 assist in 45 games and he's hardly setting the world alight. Instead of getting quite so abusive, maybe take a second and realise that the jump from the Championship to the Premiership is massive and that a player who can score 13 goals in 57 games in the Prem, as Punch has over the last 2 years, needs a little more respect. If you are saying Zaha's problem is that he has been managed poorly since Holloway came in, that excuse simply can't carry for 18 months afterwards. Murray kept it up last year, Bolasie kept it up, Jedinak kept it up, Zaha didn't. He was a very good Championship player, but he had a period of December-April last year where he effectively vanished and he has no divine right to tear the Premiership apart.

Seems clear to me that wilfs form dropped off right after being called up / tapped up with England squad. Then he was in negotiations, signed for united and it's understandable wasn't 100% focused on palace after. He wAas a loan player, after all, and how many young loanees from but clubs bust a gut? It's all irrevelent as when push came to shove he basically took us up in the play offs. No wilf, no premiership football. It's that simple. He's had a horrible year and really needs to make his next move count. Assuming van gaal doesn't come in and sort him out. He has a proven track record with bringing youth thru after all.

It's my opinion and it may seem quite a one sided debate on this forum but like I said in the world of football. Zaha to this day even after this season is regarded higher than any of the players you just mentioned and there is a reason for that.

Zaha to this day even after this season is regarded higher than any of the players you just mentioned and there is a reason for that. He also signed Bebe for £7.5m, Berbatov for £31m and Veron for £28m so that itself doesn't mean he is going to kick on and fulfil his potential. As you say, he showed glimpses of being exceptional hut so many have done that, Francis Jeffers being the prime and extreme example. I think he'll do far better than that standard and may well become a Champions League player, I really hope he does. The problem is, until he turns those glimpses into something, all he has is potential. Player for player, at this moment in time, Puncheon deserves a lot of respect for what he has done and until Zaha can turn his Championship glimpses into Premier league goals and assists, then he will remain less use to a side than Jedinak and Ward who have kicked their game on and established themselves. Zaha may be regarded more highly, but only because of potential ability based on Championship glimpses, not actual Premier league impact.

When Puncheon can do that, against anyone - let me know. And the funniest thing about this debate is. I was one of the very few on here to praise and back Puncheon from the start. The fickleness shows here, the whole board used to hate the guy! Edited by Mstrobez (05 May 2014 11.25am)

Let's be honest it's all pretty irrelevant. We may as well compare Dann to Terry, Julian to Marshal or Jerome to Suarez. Puncheon plays for Palace, Wilf doesn't!
