So finishing mid table and ..still bringing through the likes of.... Not quite sure how they made that list and -for example- Jolly Rodger didn't! Agree with the rest though... ...Jolly Roger was signed by Palace in 1990 for £1,000 from Bognor Regis Town! What?...Doris was our finest ever right back up until recently. Simon Rodger was ok at best. Never diss the Doris. ..I can still see him hitting that stunner against the Poo...back in '77 Kerms, he was very useful! I must be living in a parallel but different universe! You'll be saying that Jim Scott and Mike Flanagan were good next... Jimmy Scott started at Hibs and Mike Flanagan made his Edited by Sansbup (09 Apr 2014 8.14am) Nope, I think the mists of time are playing tricks on Kermit. Firstly to say that Doris was any good....Well, he didn't get the name Doris for nothing and to say that Jolly was OK ....all the players I listed started with us.

.....and in 1979 with great help from a certain Mr Hinshelwood, Palace spent two years in the top flight.... and he was voted as the fans' "Player of the Year" for both!

been having little think ( don't worry I sat down) It may seem strange but I think I would miss fighting for promotion or the playoffs in the championship, and although sometimes sickening, heart attack inducing, but always hugely exciting, the almost guaranteed relegation battle. If this was to be a new era in our club's history, would anyone else secretly miss our yoyo antics. I think I might. No . Give me mid table Prem all day long. The longer you do this the more chance you have of winning a cup or getting a little bit higher to go into EUROPE. You sound like a Charlton fan who decided after seven or so years in the Prem thought they were better than that and turned on Curbishley and welcomed Ian Dowie. jeez we are not even safe yet,
Be careful what you wish for.

A mid table club would be acceptable ..as said..would be nice to beat the so called 'Big' clubs now and again...As for drama..There will always be the cups if we manage to stay up!!!!

With Hull not playing and West Ham at Arsenal on Saturday (likely defeat) if we beat Villa we become a mid table side. I'm not complaining to much about that.

For me the win against Chelsea was no better that the wins against Portsmouth and Stockport to avoid relegation and I probably enjoyed last season, in particular pre IH and the end of the season, way more than I have enjoyed most of this season. The club needs to spend time in the Premiership for financial stability (assuming the owners don't do anything stupid) but for us fans I don't think it matters, or should matter, what division we are in.
I think its important to note that people have ONLY ever given DF stick for Management...NOT as a Player

The battle against relegation from the prem is a long term battle, and for a club like Palace will it ever really go away ? Look at Fulham - Europa cup finalists a couple of years ago and deep in the sh!t this season. Norwich have been up a few seasons and one of those two is going down for sure. The clowns after they got rid of Curbishley and lets see where Saints are in the next few seasons... Have no illusions, please, even if we grow and develop as I hope we do - even in the very best case scenario - we'll be looking over our shoulders for a decade I would say. So yes we DO want to be a mid-table club, because I'd imagine the best case scenario looks like this: (and this is all based on us staying up this season, which is far from assured yet) Next season - relegation battle And believe me this is a DREAM scenario - so many things will need to go right for us for this to happen - the right players bought, luck with injuries, owners staying, good decisions on managers, right balance of expenditure on ground, academy, players etc. Anything less, or just bad luck and that trapdoor awaits, believe me. Right now just staying up this season is all I ask, then lets see what Pulis and the board can really do.
You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue |

Bearing in mind our not so long ago affair with Brendan G & co & the fear of no more Palace I'm grateful of where we are, the thought of bucking the trend & actually staying in the premiership more than a season should be welcomed. If we were to become a mid table team then so be it, bigger crowds, more funds & an abundance of top quality home games. An established team with premiership stability & greater funds is a no brainer

I still rememeber how desoltae I felt when it finally sank in that we could die as a club...I dont give a cows arse for what Division, what position etc etc As long as the club is still there that is all that matters to me tbh
