He is still a young man, learning his craft and trying to put together a string of games. Ipswich have given him the chance to do that and JW has gone there and is proving himself.

To say TP does not rate him is just plain wrong. The lad has just signed a new five year deal and TP has made it clear he will be a big part of his future plans.

Sometime next season we will start to see what JW is really all about. Those who do not believe this lad is one heck of a talent will be eating their words.

Fully agree with that. Pullis obviously has a planned future for him and this is part of his education just the same as when Wenger loaned out Wiltshire and Ramsey. Joniesta is not going to make a huge difference in our current battle to stay up but he will be great for us in the future.
From a purely financial point of view this succesful loan will only increase his value should we want to sell him but I don't think that's the plan. It's all about Joniesta's development as long as he's not needed by us which isn't the case while we have Bannan. If we suffer an injury crisis then he'll be recalled but otherwise let him help the Tractor Boys and come back to us a better player for next season. Bannan will probably be one of the players that Pullis will clear out in the summer whatever div we are in leaving the path open for Joniesta. Who knows we might even get Wilf back as well after his educational season away ????

Just so disappointing, Palace cannot afford the very best players so develop their own. It's costly, tricky and takes time. When this comes to fruition, we don't use it and sell it on. Not logical. Why have a youth development scheme?

What a stupid post.

I don't see why people rate him so highly. Yes he is a talented young player but he is very raw and is yet to prove himself in a big game or over a number of games. Looking back at last season, when he was fit, Jonny never really stood out that much. I can probably only count two or three games where he had a really good game.

It does seem that any fan hates it when a young player from the academy doesn't get played, as if the manager is damaging our academy.

They way we are playing under Pulis means Williams would not have seen a lot of the ball and he isn't the type of player to sit deep and defend so him going on loan doesn't mean that's why we may go down

Mate we are the lowest scores in the league. Anybody who dosent rate Williams knows nothing about football. When he went on loan i feared that we will be in big trouble. Im sticking to my belief we will go down without him.

No-one has said they dont rate Williams, what they have said is that he has done nothing in the brief chanmces he has had to suggest he would make any difference to us staying up or going down at the moment - and thats correct

TP is on the brink of saving us.

Or perhaps on the brink of taking us down. It's really NOT looking good for us at all given our position and the fact that we don't score goals.

Pulis took over when we were in dire straits, 19th with 7 pts and it was always going to be a massive 'ask' to keep us up.

Edited by Willo (26 Mar 2014 7.58am)

Nah, keeping us up. We were bottom and dead when he took over and restructured us. The improvement has been nothing short of a work of genius. Under Holloway we were going down, and fast. There was no confidence, and no belief and the spate of beatings had destroyed morale.

We might not be pretty, but thats life, they can't all be good looking.

Because you get to have players like Clyne, Watson, Moses and Zaha for several seasons, and pay them a fraction of what you'd have to pay them if you'd bought them from another club (if you could).

Think about Clyne, he played as a first choice right back for us for 137 games, probably leaving on half the going rate for an average right back when he moved on to Southampton.

We probably had a 40k a week player, for four seasons, and I'd be surprised if his wages topped 7k a week with us.

Wilfred Zaha - Clubs like us can only create players like that, we can't really sign them. United pay him 33k a week, I think in his last contract we were paying him less than 10k.

brief chances? - he hasnt started under Pulis ffs. Thats my prediction and im sticking by it. Its dangerous game to just go for a certain type of player and ignore the short, pacey and skillful (Williams, Bannan, Gayle).

i was bored sh**less watching us v man utd and saints. I want to be entertained and i want a player with red and blue blood busting a gut for the team. If i want a aimless load of drivel i can watch eastenders.

I didnt mention Pulis - He was hardly a first choice under Holloway but we saw him and he looked short of what we need... in his time will hopefully be a good PL player, but he isnt that yet.

His goal for Ipswich was wonderful, but would he get that much space and defenders back off him at this level - of course he wouldnt and thats the key. Its the same logic that gets imbeciles calling for Kwesi Appiah to be given a go because he plays well for Cambridge.

This PL mallarkey is a whole different kettle of fish and although I would love to see creativity and moaned like f*** about our negativity and lack of creativity at Swans, Saints and Sunderland I can also see how Joniesta isnt some magic bullet that would make everything rosy

Anyhoo you stick to what you like it makes no matter to me.

I have never been that impressed really. Looks good on the ball but has no end product, especially in the Premier League, where you have to be a bit more street wise. Having said that, we are not blessed with creative midfielders. Barry Bannan is a similar player to Williams but has much better dead ball skills. He's not Pulis's type of player either. He prefers someone stronger like Ledley or Guadiora.

Let's keep the ball this season!
